Sorry for my english: My system runs Windows7 64 (What you see is an old partion of xp64 in dual boot that I don't use anymore) My antivirus has the rule not to scan SONAR and related component (such as VST, etc...) Also Win Defender has the same rule. Of course I tried to deactivate them but with no result. Firewire Konnekt48 driver has always been very stable! I replaced, just yesterday, the 1394 connection cable with an hi end one... But no success! Parallel port and serial port are deactivated. This PC works only to make music. No games on it, no applications except open office, Nero burning rom, i tunes, Vlc player, acrobat reader. etc... (I mean winzip, win rar, etc...)

I was able to reduce the dropouts for the first time, having unistalled i-tunes. Now X2 stops less easily then before. I don't love I-tunes and then I will manage my i-pad in a different way. Anyway dropouts still occurr. It's a very annoying problem.

piangio Sonar and its featured aplications is excluded from the routines of Karpersky and Win defender. Bob I don't understand, above all for my poor english, your last two lines about 32bit windows. Use one or the other. Not both. If you wantvto "tune" W7 use this site as a reference : http://www.blackviper.com/ Cheers, Jerry

Any idea out there Noel? I also add this: Now time ruler doesn't follow playback in piano roll, is there something I toggled doing some wrong operation?

Unistalled X1. Unistalled X2 and re-installed. Dropouts are still here! What do you think about a new graphic card, more powerful than GeForce GT9400?

Piangio, I had trouble with drop outs after upgrading to X2 for a bit. I found that I had to change my settings in Preferences > File > Audio Data > Render Bit Depth 24 I often use 24 bit 88.2 when recording. I find that when I use this resolution and an amp sim that sometimes I get drop-outs. You can freeze the track to reduce these issues too. I don't mean to suggest that this is your problem, but I'm telling you it was mine and the solution was to reduce the render bit-depth. You can see the bit depth of a clip by right clicking it and choosing the bottom selection of associated audio files. This will show the bit depth but not the sampling rate. You can play with your sampling rate too if you get lots of freezing. I like to use 88.2 but when I really can't afford a drop out, I consider tracking at 44.1 if it is sufficient (usually is fine for the work I do).

Hi everybody. I tell you the happy end of this. This was possible for the analisys of Cakewalk support team that I thank very much. 1. Karpersky was set not to scan anything about Cakewalk. Anyway I unistalled it and deactivated Windows defender but with no result. 2. I never realized that Ge force graphic card install 2 devices (depending on the bios settings). I deactivated Nvidia Nforce 980a/780a Sli, keeping active only GeForceGT9400 and dropouts became very, very unfrequent. 3. Also the remote control of Pro Channel caused drops. Not any more after the changes to the Graphic processor settings. So thank you for the support. I don't understand why the GUI was under stress, working on prochannel modules, knobs and borders and was very stable with dual screen, mixer view opened, track view and virtual synths page. Maybe the future release of quick fix will balance the GUI stress... Don't know and would like to hear your opinion about. That's all folks for now. Let's play music then!

For whatever the worth, I use a free antivirus program called Avast. One of the reasons I use it is that I can temporarily turn it off/on as needed without having to uninstall it. It also takes up a small memory footprint and does not seem to bother anything while it is doing its thing. Also rated highly and I have never gotten a virus with it. Just a thought since you had uninstalled the one you were using. Bob Bone
