Underwear Scene from new Star Trek Movie

http://now.msn.com/star-trek-underwear-scene-gets-apology-from-damon-lindelof

Here is a comment on the scene from this article:

"In the film, actress Alice Eve strips down to her underwear before attempting to pull on a torpedo-deactivating outfit."

... what exactly is a torpedo-deactivating outfit?!?!

I would have thought that those basement dwelling nerds would have been happy w/ the scene. Maybe the script writer counted on that too. But I'm actually happily surprised to see that they aren't.

Yup...only rivaled by Crow's other comment which might be tangentially appropriate here were the underwear wearer in question to simply turn around:

    "she's presenting like a mandrill".

I would think stripping to her underwear would activate the torpedoes though.

    What was the writer thinking?

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

it's not really all that much to get excited about.  I've seen less clothing and more provocative scenes on primetime TV.  Most beachwear is more revealing than what she was wearing.

should it have been in the scene?  I don't know, I haven't seen the movie yet (I have tickets for tomorrow), but if it is truly a scene just to show a "scantily clad actor" in order to increase ratings, then I'd say it should NOT be there.  at least give some credibility to the REASON she's in her underwear.

Really?  Go back and watch the original three Star Wars (so-called episodes 4 thru 6).  Now take notice of Pricess Leah's attire as it gets less and less with each new movie...  Heh.

I used to walk by that location used in the movie since it was right by where I lived in Irvine California (the building is actually their headquarters which features a Taco Bell restaurant on the ground floor).

Over here, it's rated as a '12A' by the British Board of Film Classification.

    As such, the guidelines are:

    Discrimination
Discriminatory language or behaviour is unlikely to
be acceptable unless clearly disapproved of or in an
educational or historical context. Discrimination by
a character with which children can readily identify
    is unlikely to be acceptable.
    Drugs
References to illegal drugs or drug misuse must be
innocuous or carry a suitable anti-drug message.
    Horror
Frightening sequences should not be prolonged or
intense. Fantasy settings may be a mitigating factor.
    Imitable behaviour
