Account lapsed

I've been off the site for a couple of months, and when I signed in today, there was a notice on the header that my account has lapsed! And then I see my product purchase list only goes back to last year, and not to 1994, when I started buying CW products.

How the **** does an account "lapse"? I've never even heard of that.

I sent an email to support, but in light of others' experiences I've read of here, I'm not all that confident that that's going to help.

Anybody got any suggestions??'

    Steve:
I got your email explaining how to restore my account by updating my email. Thank you.

Unfortunately, my email address has not changed since 2002; I am registered under the same email address I started using at that time. I know I have a few purchases before that, but I have no memory of what that old email would be. It doesn't sound like that would be the problem you're talking about anyway, especially since I've bought so many products and updates since I got my current email account in '02.

Can you suggest any other solutions?

    Thanks again for your help.

It will require CW support to correct the account.

    Steve:
I just remembered that I did use one other email address, at the same domain, just before I set up my current one. But it got hacked and I deleted the address account entirely and no records for it exist. I am not be able to receive or send any messages with it.

But since I set up my SSD using my current address, Would this even be relevant?

The old store to SSO account migration relied on the email address for the old store account. If the SSO was created with a different email address there was no way for the migration tool to add data from the old store account.

OK. So I tried to register Platinum and got a message saying that the product was automatically registered when I bought it. But it also said that my Platinum was a "Membership" product and had expired.

Then, just for kicks, I logged into the "My Products" place and, yup, there were all my bought and registered products back to 1994.

So my personal account was apparently not expired, only my Platinum.  Heck of a way to spend a Saturday.

So I will now buy the Lifetime deal.

Will my current version of Platinum still work? Will I have to download it again, just to buy the Lifetime Upgrades? And would that give me a new serial number?

    Thanks again for your help.

Activation is done automatically with the Command Center. You will not have have to reinstall. After renewing your membership, run the command center. There may be some pending updates.

I checked the CC and it knows I bought Platinum today.

I didn't see any mention of Lifetim updates. Is there any place that confirms that I've bought this?

The SONAR about screen should show membership valid through 2037 and https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Membership should show "Membership valid through ∞"
