implementing the Behringer BCR2000 in Sonar.

Hi all.

I'm considering purchasing the Behringer BCR2000 for maximum control of plugins, both instruments and effects.

I'm aware of ACT and how effects cannot directly receive MIDI CC's unless being set as a "synth". That's what's holding me back.

Since there's quite a lot of control offered by the BCR2000, I'm wondering how this would work out in Sonar. It's an old controller, so I'm not sure if its optimized for a specific DAW, like some controllers are.

I would like to utilize the entire control surface for a plugin or multiple plugins. Anyone have experience with this or know how to go about this?

This question may be more for Cakewalk but: WHY can't I directly MIDI control an effect using the VST's MIDI-Learn? 
ACT is alright, but some VSTs simply do not play well with it.

@scook, I have my plugins in neat lists. One for synths, the other for effects. I hate the fact I have to say "Oh, it's a 'synth'..." its ridiculous. The difference is the plugin goes into one of two lists: VST or VSTi.
Why can't MIDI CCs just route to whatever is in-focus? Makes no sense to me...
