To be fair he did say that the article was written and submitted right after the initial release. Everyone was singing it's praises right around that time. The complaints didn't start picking up speed until a month or so later then went apedoodles after the a patch. I think it took people a while to start encountering the bugs (I know I didn't start noticing them until I started actually editing my first project with X2) and that the a patch introduce a whole new slew of weirdness which really... people had likely been being patient and forgiving knowing it was still a new release. But after four months they probably expected the patch to actually... ya know... work. Which it kind of didn't.
But yeah... he is technically correct that at that time the user reaction was very positive. The best kind of correct.
I don't even know what the truth is anymore, and I'm starting to care less and less with each passing hour. I wasn't the one who noticed the
inaccuracies in his review. Maybe he should spend more time addressing the folks starting these threads rather than coming after the people that respond to them.
It's probably more like the fact that people's heads were still spinning from X1 and either gave up, or didn't care enough any more to come here and express their discontent with X2. There were some major problems with X2, not as big as with X1, but there were ... I just think people had had enough and didn't say anything any more. I couldn't even use it until the Quick Fix came along. It was really screwed up. Then the A patch fixed some things and broke some others ... and it's just a viscous cycle.
I just don't care any more. If people want to put out there how awesome a broken product is ... by all means, go right ahead. I'm not the one that has to put his head on the pillow at night.
