Sounds like Behringer is improving their quality. I had one of their smaller mixers for a while and it was complete garbage. After getting into it a couple of times to re-solder connections, I gave up on it.
I had one of those built-like-a-tank MX802a mixers for 15+ years before one channel quit.
As far as current quality goes ... I bought a UMC404 to try out to determine whether or not the 16x08 was actually the source of my pain. It arrived operating mono only. I didn't realize this until after the retailer return window closed. I RMA'd it. After 6 weeks they informed me they didn't have repair parts or a replacement 404, that I would have to wait another 2 months. I raised Hades. They finally comp'd me the 1820 at no additional cost to shut me up.
So I had a) failed new unit and b) lousy support. While I'm happy with the 1820, the support infrastructure has Behringer off of my list for future gear acquisition.
