Did a complete re-install of sonar and pro dimension....deleted the registry first so it was a clean re install. Dimension pro still freezing up when using pre made drum loops. It freezes up using other dimension pro sounds but not as quick as when using the loops.

Yes I am getting the same problem with DP x64. It only happens on certain RX2 loops and not others, so I have to save my project and "test" a loop before I can deem it "safe." This is really annoying because it makes it hard to browse through loops. I've had it crash mostly on RX2 loops -- once it crashed on one of the new Christmas jingles CW released, but I've never had it crash on the original factory (non-REX) sounds (haven't tested it extensively, though). I wish Cakewalk would fix this because there isn't an alternative to play RX2 sounds -- the old RXP plugin is only 32-bit and doesn't work very well.

Dragging-and-dropping RX2 loops directly onto an audio track is a safe alternative to DP, but you have to use DP if you want to trigger individual slices, and some loops crash.

Has any of you filed a problem report? Some of these crashes are clearly reproducible.

I reckon I report the one I posted recently (http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2749806)

Can one or more of you guys list some of the specific loops causing crashes?

I'd like to play around with some of the parameters in Dim Pro and see if that resolves the issues.

There is at least one regular preset Almost There - under the '08' group, it's a guitar sound, and it crashes Sonar - BUT if you adjust 2 of the parameters (have to look them up again, but I did this before and it works), so that the parameter values are set to zero, then save the preset, it will then work after that.

Soooooooo, I am hoping that maybe something like that might fix these, so please list some of the ones you are having trouble with and I will try to see if something can be adjusted that causes them to start working.

Thanks,

I went back to find the thread link containing the steps that fixed the Almost There preset from crashing Sonar:

So, if someone posts some of the loops causing crashes I will tinker and post back results,

Thanks Bob for digging that info out of the accumulated forum wisdom!

The 'Almost Together' preset was the one crashing on my machine. So I reckon what is posted in that thread will solve my issues.

Anyway, what puzzle me now: Is it that "Random unipolar" or "Sample Delay" setting that is the trouble maker? Will that cause other presets to crash if set to something other than zero?

This is something to tinker about if you feel like it. If we could isolate that one setting as a trouble maker (i.e. it crashes other preset while all/many other knobs don't crash 'Almost Together') it would raise my confidence in Dimension Pro again ...

Well, if my memory is working today (hasn't so far, but I remain hopeful), I believe I have run through a whole bunch of the presets, building a list of which ones I find 'playable' for future recordings, and I don't recall running across any others - but for SURE I have not gone through all of the presets.

I DIMLY recall seeing the settings used on other presets, but I could not testify to that in court.  One of the things I wanted to do today was to continue going through the presets, and I will try to  keep an eye out for any other presets that have those parameters set to something other than zero.

Guys, check out this thread. The first post MAY very well fix your problems. --> http://forum.cakewalk.com.m.aspx?m=2074837&mpage=1

Edit: Woops, looks like you guys are already on to it. :)

The only time I've ever had Dimension pro crash was because that setting was set to something other than 0.

Hey I *think* I found a solution. DPro seems to crash only if Sonar is set to a different tempo than the original loop. If Sonar's tempo matches that of the loop, DPro will not crash. I'll keep stress-testing it to be doubly sure. If this can be reproduced, maybe Cakewalk can fix it.
