  • (CLOSED) Connected Controllers/Surfaces settings don't stay set

I have been using my Tascam DM24 as a controller ever since I got it with Sonar. I upgraded to X3 64bit and it no longer will work. What is even more strange is that in Connected Controllers/Surfaces, I add a control surface set the controller, In port and Out port, hit Apply, and it disappears. The only one that stays visible is the first one I set up which is Novation Automap (i also use my Impulse keyboard). Anyone else experience this issue with any of your control surfaces?  What is the fix?

Thanks

This generally means something is wrong "downstream" from Sonar.
USB Port / drivers / cable / PC / Control Surface etc.

Sonar is more or less innocent in this regard afaik

The DM connects via firewire to the PC; right?
It worked in Sonar X1 & X2 in Win 7x64?
Sonar X1 & X2 32 or 64bit?
The FW1884 has 2 separate Sonar Plugs; 1 for 32 bit Sonar (even on the 64 bit OS) and 1 for x64 Sonar.
We need a little more info...

The DM24 connects via midi. It requires 2 different controllers to be set up. For the transport to be controlled, MMC is set up. This is only one directional from the DM24 to Sonar. For the faders, pans, and mutes; I have a control surface software installed called dm24cntrlsurface.dll. I see it in the drop down menu. I can pick it. I can select the midi ports. It seems to be staying now. But when I add the MMC and hit apply, it disappears. Funny thing is tho. When I start deleting the control surfaces to start over, each one I've set up that disappeared will show up after the one I've deleted. That part is in Sonar and doesn't appear to be hardware related. I'm running X3e 64bit, DM24, RME HDSP 9652 and with the midi attached from it to the DM24. The Novation Impulse is USB and it works fine. Thanks for your direction and input.

The DM24 worked in all previous versions of Sonar. I've been using it and upgrading since Pro Audio 9. The only change has been when I upgraded to X3, I made the switch to 64 bit also. I'm thinking I may need to uninstall/reinstall the dm24cntrlsurface.dll driver. Gonna try that today and report back.

dm24cntrlsurface.dll is a 32 bit dll is my guess.
Is it in Program Files x86\Cakewalk\Shared Sufaces ?
"I made the switch to 64 bit also" Win 7 x64 or Sonar x64?
I guess my question there is; Did it EVER work in the Win 7x64 environment?

Probably never worked with 64bit SONAR here is a similar thread from some time ago http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2163510

Yeah. It doesn't work with Sonar 64 bit installation. That is the issue. Oh well. I'll just use the Novation Impulse to control instead.

Case closed then.
