So I upgraded Melodyne to Editor when I first bought Sonar X3.  Until yesterday, I had only used it for occasional vocal pitch correction.  yesterday I was listening back to a bunch of takes with a client.  One particular take was a clear winner for timing and performance, only there was one bad chord played on the guitar - "bummer" said the client, "that was my favorite take, but now we cant use it".  The recording was dynamic acoustic music, not played to a click track, so flying in a part from elsewhere in the song and have it fit was going to be a challenge.
 
"I think we can fix that" I told the client, but I could see by the look on his face that he didn't believe me.  Right in front of his eyes, I added Melodyne as a region effect in Sonar and tweaked each note of the acoustic guitar chord so that it was now playing the right notes.  BAM!  Fixed!  His jaw dropped.  Priceless moment!

The keywords would be "Success with Client, Live".

I had a similar experience where a client was wishing that he could sing harmony with himself....ta da!!! Melodyne Editor made me look like an absolute genius.....far from the truth, but love the buzz that it created among his mates!

I suggest you work on some sort of engineering 'Strut', to reinforce your God-like abilities.  :)
 
That's a WAY kewl story of something that was really helpful to the client.
 
The neatest part of it was that you had the presence of mind (awareness) that this might be something you could accomplish with Melodyne.
 
I think it is SOOOO important to get a really good working knowledge of the kinds of things that you can do with Sonar.  While it might have also saved the client's take if the CLIENT had been the one to have suggested trying to correct the problem with Melodyne, it would not have looked as good for THEM to have been the ones to know Sonar.  Or to have thrown away the take, only to find out later that it could have been used after all.
 
I believe these folks walked out of there with a sense of great satisfaction, and also one of far deeper trust in your abilities.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys.  The story gets even better...  I got a text message today from one of the performers who shared a car ride back into town with the client.  He said the client was "singing my praises".
 
Ha!  All down to Cakewalk and Melodyne really, but I don't mind taking the credit ;)  It's nice to have products that make me look good.  I do think the ARA integration in Sonar is spectacular.  Melodyne is a revelation, particularly the polyphonic capabilities of Editor.  VVocal worked ok on monophonic stuff, but its instability was embarrassing at times.  X3 and Melodyne just work.
 
I guess CW moving away from Roland drove them to integrate another pitch correction tool.  This may be one of the biggest blessings in disguise in the history of Sonar.  (Of course I don't know the back-story and may have this completely wrong).

I had a similar story about a year ago.  Sure does make you feel good to amaze a client with your abilities...and CW software of course :) .
