• SONAR
  • Melodyne shortcut but not V-Vocal?

Hi Gang...

My thanks to The Bakers for the Melodyne shortcut... Id doesn't appear that there is one for V-Vocal... I understand (probably) why, but some of us are too poor to buy the full Editor version of Melodyne and the lite version is missing too many tools to replace V-Vocal...

So I understand why as an old plugin no longer part of the Sonar bundle was not given a default shortcut, but can't we at least get an option to create one? that would sure be a big help to me as scrolling the drop down list and menu system repeatedly gets old real fast...

Or is there already one that I couldn't find?

Thanks for at least getting part way there... I wish I could afford the Editor version, but it's not likely for quite some time... I guess I'm off to the Feature Request page to try again... Maybe I'll get lucky? ;-)

Thanks again...
Keni

Hi - V-Vocal was deprecated (dropped) in X3, so if you have it from X1 or X2 it will still work in X3.

You can always get it back from either of those 2 releases.

I think Cakewalk gave a response in this other thread you created:

Cheers..

Aah, yes.

Isn't this the one where the documentation may still list the shortcut for V-Vocal, but it in error?

The product was 'dropped'.  It is not sleeping, or stunned, or pining for the fjords, it is a non-parrot, deceased, dead product.

Soooo, while the product will work, the shortcut no longer will, and it won't be coming back.

Right and I'm looking forward to take it off my bug list as soon as Cake updates the documentation...

(It's not dead it's sleeping ).

Hi, Keni.

I went through that other post and saw where Lynn had posted the following:

"Keni, I believe that VV opens like Melodyne, via the Region FX tab, now.  Highlight your clip or region and open the Region FX tab where you will find VV and Melodyne available.  This has been reported here on several occasions."

Does the above work for you?

I think he is complaining about the lack of a shortcut key specifically.

I agree - it was all I could come up with.....

There simply will not be a shortcut key, as the product was deprecated.

Thanks everybody...

Yes, all is working properly... And I know all the reasoning about it being dropped as part of the Sonar bundle. I am grateful that the Bakers kept the interface with it working for support of older projects etc...

...and I wasn't even really complaining. I understand the situation. But adding it to the shortcuts list so that a user could add a shortcut to it is a very simple thing... I don't believe there is much of anything that having one (shortcut) would do to cause any problems.

I am merely asking the Bakers to re-consider this tiny option. And hoping to get others to agree with me and file their' own feature request for it. Surely it's way down the list of anyone's priorities, but also way simple to implement... If enough people are interested.

Sadly I believe I'm one of few users who still must depend on VV instead of Melodyne and use it heavily... But I can hope... And reach out...

So I thanks you all for taking an interest in this post and trying to help me... If you really want to help, a
Feature Request is the best any of us can do... Even if you don't use/need it, it won't hurt anyone to have it, eh? ;-)

Keni I gave you a link to the other thread you created. Let me paste Cakewalk's response to you from that thread...

Cheers...

This is not a bug but intended behavior. VVocal is deprecated as of X3 and as such its shortcut is released back to the public domain :) Keyboard shortcuts are a valuable resource so it would be unwise to continue blocking them for deprecated features.
There is currently no way to bind a hotkey to region effects other than Melodyne. In the future if there are more ARA region effects available we may consider adding a configuration mechanism to bind a specific one to a key but thats unlikely to happen soon.

The hotkey for Melodyne is CTRL-M as discussed in the help and not Shift-M:
