Hello,
I used to run SP8.5.3 on a Win XP 32bit laptop. All my content files were in my data partition. I've just upgraded my OS to Win 7 64bit. I did a clean install on my C drive so XP is gone. I installed SP8 first from my installation CDs. For Session Drummer 2 and Dimension Pro I wanted to install just the vst and not the content since I already had the content on my "data" partition. However I couldn't figure it out. During the installation, if I enter the content path to the folder where I already have the same content will it just skip this step? Also, after SP8 has been installed can you change the settings to make Dimension Pro and Sessions Drummer 2 look for there content in a different path?

Thanks

Specifying the existing multisample directories will cause the installers to attempt to install files in the directories. The installers are suppose to overwrite only older files. If you want an extra measure of safety rename your current good directory, let the installer use the intended directory then rename the directory back they way you want and remove the new multisample install. Or manipulate the registry entries. Here is a post detailing all the registry entries http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2673527. Or use the DOS mklink command with /j or /d option to create pointers to the good directories and avoid the registry completely.

Thanks for the reply scook, I'm not confident in messing with the registry and

is basically Chinese to me. I was looking for a way to reinstall SP8 without installing the multisamples since they already exist on another partition. I"ve done this before with NI software. I'll just install all the samples again and delete the old folder.

Thanks again.

The SONAR installer does not have an option to skip installing the multisamples or programs for a plug-in. Moreover, trying to use your old multisample directory without keeping your old Programs directory is not a good idea. You will likely lose programs. Since you don't want to perform registry edits, there are two solutions: moving directories around or learning how to use mklink. If you don't want to learn how to use mklink, on the other partition, rename the multisample directory you want to use and install the new multisamples to the location you want to use, then after installation remove the new multisample installation and rename the old multisample directory. You will also need to overwrite the Programs directory with the programs from your old installation. On Win7 the Programs directory for DimPro is a hidden directory "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs"
