Thanks again guys.
Do any of you have a list of known Soft Synths and Plugins/Brands, that are inappropriate/problematic in 64 bit Sonar.  And I presume that the term 'Running Windows 64bit' means that the OS itself is 64 bit?
Also, what Third Party Synths and Plugins do I not need to install again in 64 Bit Sonar, or do I have to install all again?

Most of the plugins that were problematic in Sonar 64 bit have been updated and or CW has made adjustments to Sonar. Overall its fair to say that the vast majority of VSTs VSTis  are working great in Sonar X3 64 bit.

One could say its a moving target and no list would be accurate for very long. Generally if its a 64 bit VST/VSTi it will work in Sonar.

Does anyone know if some of Sonar's bundled plug in's don't install if you do the 64 bit installation?  I think some of the bundled plug-ins are 32-bit only.  Do they still get installed and then get run with bitbridge, or do they just get skipped by the installer?

The thread is a bit old now, but its a guide. Recently I got Kitcore running wit X3 and Win 8 when it had been a problem with 8.5 on Vista 64.

You will lose some of the 32 bit DXis like Dream station but most 32 bit VSts will be OK. You will probably find that there are 64 bit verions available for many of them. I went 64 bit with version 8.5 so I dont really have a appreciation of what does not work today.

Edit - I just realised that thread was 2009!!! 64 bit was bleeding edge then, its pretty mainstream these days.

One thing mentioned that needs correction is you don't need to re download Sonar.
The files you originally downloaded contain both the 32 and 64 bit versions. I also just noticed while installing the X3e update on my laptop that the 32 or 64 bit options are in the install process. I almost proceeded with a 32 bit by mistake as it was the one highlighted by default.

There's no reason to worry about proceeding with a 64 bit install. Just do it and get to work. Then if something doesn't work, you just use a different plug in or as last resort open the project in the 32 bit version. For me I lost nothing in the process but I'm using mostly Sonars plug ins. The few 32 bit , 3rd party plug ins all seem to run fine I guess using Bit Bridge.
