VSTs compatable with 8.5 64 bit

I know there is a list of compatible plugs in for 8.3 but 8.5 is a different animal and I am hoping the board can help me.
I am considering the 8.5 upgrade, percussion strip is a nice to have and SD3 would probably find some use but not is essential as I have a lot of kits between EZdrummer and Kitcore, so the only real selling point for me is Bitbridge 2 (even if it is a case of five steps forward, one step back due to the Toontrack problems) and integrated Jbridge support if required so I can finally go 64 bit and get some payback on the money I invested in my computer hardware. My next big purchase will be Kontact 4 or Komplete 6 and I want to be 64 bit before taking that leap.
I would be interested to know if anyone is successfully running or having problems any of these Plugins in 8.5 64 bit. Please indicate if Jbridge is needed for any,
Toontrack
EZ Drummer - Known issue but works with Jbridge. No need to reply.

Hauptwerk
Hauptwerk 3.23 I am still tempted by this.  I tried the free 32 bit version on 8.3.1 32 bit but it caused the VST scan to crash, even though the plugin loaded and worked. There is a 64 bit version which I hope will be more stable. Some of the free third party sample sets soud excellent but are a bit temperamental as you have to match your project settings to the sample rate used in the instrument, and this varies, but what do you expect for free?

A lot of the Native Instrument stuff has been ported to native 64 bit including:

 Guitar Rig 3.2 & 4.0
- Maschine
- Kontakt 3.5 & 4.0
- Kontakt Player 3.5
- Absynth 5
- Battery 3.0.6
- Massive 1.1.4
- FM8

The Cakewalk Studio Instrument suite is all native 64 bit as far as I know.  SFZ is also native 64 bit.  The only thing inside of Sonar that's still not 64 bit is:

- DropZone
- Dimension LE *
- RXP
- Beatscape
- Bit Meter
- Perfect Space
- Vintage Channel (VC-64)
- Old FX Plugin Suite **
- Dreamstation
- Studioverb 2.0
However, most of these work with Bitbridge with the exception of Dreamstation, the old FX Plugin suite and the Studioverb 2.0 reverb that came out in 8.5.

The rest of the plugins in your list, I'm not sure of.

Native Instruments
B4II - YES, no problems (through Bitbridge)
Guitar rig 3 XL - YES Guitar Rig 3 standard (what's XL, the software/hardware combo?)
Kontact player 3.5 - YES, native 64-bit (I use Kontakt 3.5, the Kontakt Player is basically a demo version of K3.5)
Kore player - YES, but download the latest installer (even if it's the same version) because there was a mistake in earlier version and additional libraries would not install on a x64 machine.
Proteus VX - YES, but you'll have to manually reload the entire library (I guess the Program Files x86 folder confuses it...)

Anyone on my mission critical stuff - Gmedia Mtron Pro, Minimonsta, VSM, Kit Core or RealStrat. RealStrat was one of the things I could not get working in 8.3 64 bit.

As for the Kong Audo stuff  (VSTi of Chinese instruments from a Chinese company - excellent!) it is a bit obscure so I think that will be a suck it and see.

I am using Sampletank 2 just fine in 8.5.1 under x64 (Vista) - don't have JBridge yet and no workaround necessary. Would be good to know what issues users were having, and what the workaround is(?)

Projects saved with ImageLine Sytrus won't load again with BitBridge.

Projects saved with "jBridged" ImageLine Sytrus load up fine.

I've reported this to CW, but there's something funny (not funny ha-ha) about some of the non Maxx Claster plugins from ImageLine.

ImageLine Biohazard - works fine with Bitbridge
ImageLine Toxic III  - works fine with Bitbridge
ImageLine Morphine  - works fine with Bitbridge

seem to be quite happy with BitBridge.

Paul Russell: Does Sytrus load up properly in SONAR with Bitbridge for you? I can add Sytrus and save a project with Sytrus, but once it's saved, I can't load the project again. Bitbridge crashes trying to load up Sytrus again.

I also have issues with some of Sytrus' GUI preset boxes getting 'stuck' on the SONAR UI after the plugin UI is closed.

It loads up ok, but I haven't done a lot of testing with it because of that silly pokey interface. On my screens I need a magnifying glass to use it.

I know that Guitar Rig 4 is stated as being 64 bit, however I noticed that an instance of bitbridge runs for every instance of guitar rig in my project...
I am very new at this and still trying to understand, but this doesn't sound right to me.

What! VSM won't run on Vista? It's a pretty new bit of software for that to be the case.

I could understand not running in a 64 bit host via bitbridge, but the much older Minimonsta runs in Vista 64 and I had it working in 8.3 64 bit at one stage before switched back to 32 because of some other issues.

Good job it was a shopping list item, not something I have already. That hard earned cash heading elsewhere I think.

It is possible that trevorst is having the same issue that I had with Guitar Rig 4: when I checked the "configure as synth" box, GR 4 shows in plugin manager but not in the VST synth menu in Sonar!
Eventually I discovered where the 64-bit VSTs live in the registry, and what key had somehow not been changed:

1) go to this branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory\c:/program files/vstplugins/Guitar Rig 4.dll

2) in the right-hand window, find registerAsSynth. It will probably say (0) at the end. Change that to a (1) and it will show.

I hope this helps, trevorst.

Bumping this one again.

I have posted questions on the Submersible forums about their products and the news is mixed. It seems that Drumcore crashes Sonar using bitbridge and will not find it's Audio loops when running through JBridge, It does find Midi loops and sounds and otherwise functions. I still have my fingers crossed as I use Kitcore which does not use audio loops.

A 64bit version of Drumcore was in the pipeline before Sonama Wire Works bought out Submersible. Hopefully this will still go ahead.

Also here is a quote Mudgel on another thread that has quite a bit of relevent information.

" meant that only 2 of my 32 bit plugins wont work with BitBridge 2 and require jBridge. They are Superior Drummer 2.2 and Jamstix 2.
So I have 100% 32 bit compatability with SONAR 8.5.1

Komplete 6 works native x64 except REAKTOR 5 which is 32 bit and works with bitbridge.
All IKMultimedia work with bitbridge this includes all Amplitube and Ampeg models, Sample Tank2.5xl, Miroslav, Sonic Synth, ARC, T-RACKS 3, CSR Reverb.
Line 6 POD Farm works with all model packs
All my other plugs and VSTis are native 64 bit

I'm having a really good experience now. It just all works. The problem with sup Drummer 2.2 not working with bitbridge was a big issue but solved (workaround)with jBridge even though I resent having to spend the extra money but in the grand scheme its AUD$25 when I've already spent thousands on hardware and software. Add more that also work in x64bit SONAR 8.. all Spectrasonics and EastWest and Vienna, iZotope, WaveArts (64bit BETA), Voxengo, Virtual Guitarist 2, Melodyne Bridge,( Nomad Factory Blue-Series, only 8.5)... and so on...

I guess  90-% of all apps work!

I know that Guitar Rig 4 is stated as being 64 bit, however I noticed that an instance of bitbridge runs for every instance of guitar rig in my project...
I am very new at this and still trying to understand, but this doesn't sound right to me.

Running Vista 64, Sonar 64 on a Quad AMD with 8 Gig ram

Go to the Plugin Manager and add the folder where the 64 bit version of the GR4 .dll is stored.  If you installed it in the default location, you'll find it under:

C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Guitar Rig4\VSTPlugins 64 bit

Once you add this folder, re-scan all your plugins and you should be able to see it.  Remember to add it to your custom plugin layout, if you use them.

HTH

Thanks Phoenix...
I have it working fine now, had to delete the 32 Bit version from the VST folder and rescan before it worked. Until I did that it would always load the 32 bit even though I would select the 64 bit version.
Will check out the reg setting though and see what that setting is.
