Hello
This is a spin off from this thread:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/X3d-Zoom-Still-As-Messed-Up-As-In-X3c-m2954161.aspx#2955239

I though I'd create another thread to get down to the bottom of a specific issue.
It seems to be reproducable in older projects, may created from Sonar X2 or earlier. Then again others might be able to reproduce in new projects.
I cannot reproduce it every time, it appears intermittent. BTW I am absolutely dragging this right every time.

STEPS:

Open a project with multiple tracks
Auto track zoom = OFF
hold down Z
Drag across two tracks
ACTUAL
Does not zoom into two tracks. Shows multiple tracks
Press ALT-Z
Drag across two tracks

ACTUAL

As Expected both tracks display properly zoomed (other tracks not displayed).
(You have to do it twice???).

NOTE

This might not work first time, try some other tracks.... Can be difficult to reproduce but once you find tracks that behave like this the steps are consistent.

Can anybody confirm? I suspect some will be able to, some won't. So we need lots of testers.... thanks...

I just went several rounds with this recipe with projects originating in various versions of SONAR, and can't reproduce a problem. Incidentally, I can't reproduce Keni's issue with multi-lane track zooming, either.

Thanks Dave....!

Any more takers?

I see Keni's issue is apparently project-specific as well.

Indeed, I've tested this particular issue on multiple projects so far, gotta be a smoking gun somewhere....

I just tried this with several pre-X3 projects and cannot produce either. I did a few iterations of projects with Auto Track Zoom requiring disabling (i.e. the projects had been saved with Auto Track Zoom on). I also tested with various iterations of the Inspector/Dock/Brower expanded and collapsed; then decided to undock all three and throw them onto another monitor.

In all iterations, I only needed to zoom one time.

Hmmmmm... Thanks :)

I am not sure if this is related, but if you hit z and drag as specified... tracks will zoom to proportional height...

If you then hold Z a second time, and scroll any vertically... the lanes added to the zoom do not zoom to the same height.

Example... do the above, and zoom on a section of tracks 1/2. Then hold z, start drag on track 2 and scroll into track 3 (out of view initially). It seems the zoom is "proportional" to initial track height.

Work arounds for this are to fit tracks (either hit F or Shift-F) prior to subsequent zooms.

I'm wondering how it is project dependent...

With projects started in X3b or c I can get it to work by removing various elements... which elements are an issue that I can't seem to narrow down...

I can always make it work if I remove the "extra" lanes on the track, but it will also work on the track with multiple lanes (sometimes) after removing all vsti's... It's getting more confusing to me as I research it more...

This issue is nothing to do with Multiple takelanes hence I started a new thread to tackle a specific scenario as explained (#1). Want to nail this down. Thanks...
