Hi all,

I love addictive drums except for one strange thing.  It inserts random drum notes where there are none from time to time.  For example, it is is putting a crash every 4 bars and there are no midi notes in the crash note in the piano view.  It's also playing some tom hits where none are there.

anyone else had this problem and know what it could be?

I've used AD about since it was published. I've never experienced anything like that.  I've never had any problems with it. Have you checked the event list to make sure there really is no MIDI to launch the random/unwanted sounds?

Are these anomalies in any logical relation to, say, whether you're using ADs own MIDI loops versus feeding in your own drum patterns or something like that?

Can you please give us more detail on how you are making your MIDI patterns, or where they are from?

I have seen synths map to different keys, so I can get into trouble blindly inserting/moving MIDI data around. Drum maps can vary from set to set. Is it possible that "crash" was intended to be a different (intended) MIDI note, but is just on the wrong note (drum)? (your PRV may not be displaying the proper drum map?)

Edit: Just in case the above may be possible. Here is a thread with AD drum maps you may find helpful.

You probably have a midi track routed to it that you don't know about. It happens to me from time to time since I use synths temporarily and forget to change the routing of that midi track. Or, you have notes playing that your not seeing.

Guitarpima is correct about another track may be assigned to AD. One step farther would be there could be just one or two notes in another track that are transmitting on the AD channel. Check all your tracks, one at a time, in the event list to make sure you don't have a stray note somewhere. Otherwise, I would go with checking the mapping.

I think guitarpima is on to something.  Usually when i have stray notes the source is from another midi track

Either as others have suggested (routing) or the MIDI playback buffer is giving you aliens....

(Preferences > Midi > Playback buffer)

Thanks everyone who replied and sorry it's taken so long form to get back to you, I set the track aside for a while.

Turns out guitarpima was correct. There was a different midi track routed to the addictive drums triggering random notes.  It was disguised by the fact that I had frozen that track so was still getting the original audio even though the midi track was routed elsewhere.

The mystery for me is how on earth that re-routing happened.  I certainly didn't do it consciously.  I guess I'll never know.

Thanks again everyone

You could have had the culprit midi track routed to another synth, deleted that synth and the midi track got re-routed to the AD synth. I had this happen all the time till I made sure I routed the midi track before I deleted a synth.
