  • A plea for changes to piano scroll view

I bought sonar platinum and I have lingering issues that go back over a decade. I am crying as I write this message. I will pay $1000 to see it fulfilled. I am dead serious. I will pay whatever amount you deem fair to see it fulfilled.

I don't want to have to download an app like duckbar just to get what i want.

Simply put, I want to be able to copy across tracks while I am in Piano Roll View. This means that if i select/highlight notes from track X in PRV, i want to select another track (track A,B,C....Z etc.) in PRV and click+ ctrl +drag the notes I have selected to copy those notes from track Z into tracks A-Z that i have selected. This helps me to double parts or copy note values into other tracks on the fly without having to do any additional steps other than select the track I want to copy notes and values I have selected into. As it is now, when i click or select the notes i want to copy into tracks A-Z, it highlights the track that those notes belong to on the right track list pane. This is not what I want. I want to be able to stay locked into that track despite whatever other notes I click that belong to different tracks.

The "smart" tool. I don't want to click and drag to write my notes in PRV! I just want to click and viola! I have my note. I also would like to be able to highlight my notes by clicking and dragging over notes with the smart tool. It can all be possible with the smart tool, but for whatever reason, we are not allowed to tweak it. Id also like to right click over notes to delete them.

I do not want to have to use the keyboard to switch functions as i am unnecessarily forced to do. I do not want to switch views to manipulate notes as I want to. I get so jumbled up doing these tedious extra steps that i forget the notes im trying to write out on the fly because i spent too much time jumbling about!

Cakewalk has failed to differentiate for us for the past 10 years. They had it right with Sonar 2. Even Cakewalk 8!! I have spent alot of money on this product and it is the best thing out there, but it is not perfect. I really hope one day my simple requests will be fulfilled. 10 years is a long time. Please help.

If I am not clear, here is a video. https://youtu.be/rjSobfgi8bk

Sorry to break the bad news, but Cakewalk has ceased trading. Sonar is no longer in development or for sale. Better  try some demos of different DAWs and see if any suit you better.

Did you miss the memo?  Gibson has stopped all development of SONAR.  You'd have to up the ante and buy the software code from Gibson, but then you could add anything you want.

Yeah? What Daw has a piano scroll view where you can see all the tracks at once and in different colors for each instrument?

This is the pit of misery. All you will hear are the echos of your own (and others) cries.
If you're lucky, someone will bring some bud lite down.

I don't mean to be stupid, but can't you do this in sonar prv? Maybe not explicitly drag and drop but darn close.
