Dan Cate [Cakewalk]
Sharke,
One in five times is pretty repeatable. I'm looking for clues to what workflow scenarios might be causing this. If you have a project you know this has happened in and would like to help us resolve this issue, you can send me the project with some hints on what you did or how you typically use loop points. Most likely we wouldn't require the audio, just the raw .cwp file would do.
Hi Dan,
How do I send you a project? I tried in a PM but the file type for attachments is not supported.
In any event, I have found the issue to be very repeatable for all of my projects. I it most obvious if I select a time range and then just repeatedly clicking the "set loop time" button. Each time there is an audible glitch in the audio. If I click it enough times I eventually get a dropout. The problem is worse (e.g. more likely any given click will result in a dropout) with higher track counts and more CPU usage, but is present even for very modest projects. For larger projects of say 20 tracks with a plugin or two on each track (but still showing very little CPU load) I get a dropout about 1 in 5-10 times.
I tried opening in safe mode in case there was a plugin issue, but this did not fix the problem. Increasing latency and using read caching helps, but the problem is still present and occasionally (several times in a session) results in a dropout. I have similar problems when making other changes to loop settings, such as dragging a loop range while playing.
Yesterday I used Windows update and installed the most recent drivers from RME so this should not be an issue of an out of date driver.
Win 7 64 bit
Sonar Producer X2a
RME UFX
Thanks,
David
