I use Sony Vegas Studio. It has options to edit the sound tracks and video tracks, and insert Text and screen effects. Sony also has some freeware out there maybe named Picture Motion Browser, that lets you do some editing, and change formats.
I have found working in Sonar I use AVI, and in Vegas Studio I use WMV types.
When I imported a video sound track to Vegas as a Quick Time vid, it had no sound track. Format Factory is a free dl converting system. The WMV is probably the most compressed and common to save them as for media play. However sites such as You Tube will accept any format and change it as needed.
