I've read the whole thread but it still wont help if Gibson files bankruptcy.
All assets will be frozen and there will be no way to get that activation code.
Gibson owes 500 million by June 2018.
If cakewalk were to hand out the offline activation code to users, the software code will be for ever open source. If someone wants to buy this code they will be screwed. that's the only reason Cakewalk hasn't handed over the activation code. Because once they do, its all over for Sonars code.
My guess is someone is trying to buy the code from Gibson.(probably Noel or someone from Cakewalk).
If Cakewalk had no interest in a future, we would already have that code in our hands.
It doesn't take 2 weeks to write an unlock code.
I know you have Chuck, I was just putting that to be helpful for other users I wasn't sure had seen the thread due to the amount of unprecedented activity we've seen in these forums recently!
I agree and it also deeply concerns me which is why I asked if we (paid registered users of X3 and up), could at least all have X3 unlocked as a compromise so in case it all goes "belly up", we've got something for our cash! Not ideal but better than a piece of software which would be on borrowed time.
Also, I'm not sure that having an offline key which is tied to a user would compromise the situation because that's the way most software was licensed before internet piracy became a problem. We'd still have our own unique registration key if that's possible but perhaps it's not.
Therefore, I really hope that something positive will happen out of this and that's why activation keys aren't being released just yet! :-)
