I wont be upgrading my x1 until the staff view is fixed/revamped..  By then other daws with better notation and 64bit will be considered..

ProTools 10 is just about there.  Cubase is there.

I think it's funny when someone dredges up a thread from nearly a year ago to argue a point with someone.

What I think is really funny is that I encountered a problem with a brand new software I purchased a month ago (X1 Expanded) and searching for post regarding this issue I found unsolved problems/threads from a year ago!
Meanwhile our cash keeps flowing.

But it happens all the time didn't it? Technology improves what we already have to sell us a better version of it,   but there's always something missing (thing digital recording "replacing" analog, CDs replacing LP, etc...)
Sonar 3 and 6 and 8.5 where better Staff based sequencers than this new (great overall) X1.

Sonar is becoming more loop/DJ based. Will history repeat - remember the failed Project 5?

I completely agree and it's a shame cause it could be for almost everybody sequencing (based on the customisable work space)

Sonar was never intended to be a notation program. Notation is there merely to assist in editing MIDI tracks. If you want notation, Finale Print Music is an inexpensive solution.

unresolved issues of the snap settings (referencing your post above)?  can you be more specific about your snap settings problem?

I need the staff view.  I don't need the loop fonction for now, but it does't mean that one day, I will not.  I never try to quantize the audio but I do it all the time with MIDI.  One day I'll give it a try...

Recently, I bought FINALE and I'm happy with my charts now.  I live with that and I hope things will be take in consideration for every one here from Cake.
As long as we talk, there is hope!!!
My 2...heu...not on my keaboard any more...you see...they changed that too!!!

there's a differnet post about that dating from march 2011
http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2270097

I encounter the very same problems  described on that topic. Staff view doesn't remember or "respect" the global snap settings and behaves weird, changing it's own snap settings when closing and reopening staff view, etc.

Oh great... more staff view discussion. Maybe Cakewalk should just come out and state "we have no intention of changing the staff view beyond how it functions today + MusicXML export in expanded". Period, end of story.

Then all of those lost souls holding out hope that SV will be improved in the future can move on w/ their lives, and all of those continuously typing "if you need notation than use Finale or Sibelius" can save themselves some typing....

Well, since we are on this topic, this will be a perfect time to do a request for an improvement for something that seems to work..as if..it was meant for more than just an export view.

Gee, maybe one can imagine a time when one could fully customize the GUI to this level that you could delete entire views you don't like.

Those typing "if you need notation than use Finale or Sibelius" have absolutely no clue what notation in a DAW is for. I suspect you are equally clueless.  Why do clueless people who think buying loops makes them a composer enter in discussoins they don't understand?
