  • X2 Upgrade purchase while stuck with an XP machine

There are a lot of incentives/reasons to buy the upgrade from X1 to X2 right now.  But for people still stuck with XP, (me) and a new computer being a few months off, does it make sense to buy the upgrade now or wait until I have a newer PC & operating system?  I've always got the Sonar upgrades and am worried about skipping one, but don't know if it makes sense at this point.  Any thoughts?

I realize XP isn't supported and X2 won't work on an XP machine.  I was told to buy the upgrade and wait to download it after I have a newer system.  I'm wondering about deals being available now (i.e.NAMM, xtra content, etc) that I should take advantage of or just wait.  I don't think pricing will go down..

The 30 days of free Groove3 videos is a nice bonus as is be available through the end of Feb. They have videos for X1 so you could view material on both your current and future DAW (and many other products and concepts like the mix videos). If you are not interested in the videos, you might as well wait until March when the next Content Club bonus is available.

Good call, that is helpful scook.  I was trying to justify the 20% off thing but it just makes sense to hold off.

Thanks again!

IMHO, take advantage of the incentives, load Sonar X2 on your WinXP system (if your system meets the requirements) and do NOT load the X2a patch until you upgrade to Win 7 or Win 8.

X2 worked fine on my system while I was deciding whether or not I was going to upgrade to Windows 8 (I went with Windows 7 Professional because of my Desktop system and don't see ever getting a "Touch" screen).

I'd wait till you get a new PC as its a few months away.
That way you can run both machines side by side until you are happy with your new PC.

Ah of course if you need to take advantage of your incentives perfectly good advice here already...
