If the touch screen in the video is already $699, you are looking @ $499 by next xmas, and $399 a year after.   With several low price competitors appearing in the next two years.

You will have 27 inch touch screens between $269 and $389 in short order!! IMHO

Simple...I amd looking at the VS 100 and the MCU Pro...I am looking for those who have experience with one or both of these...I'm perticularly looking for ease of integretion and overall usefullness...comparatively speaking...I know a fair amount about the MCU, but just started looking at the VS100. It is also a good bit cheaper than the MCU...your thoughts and opinions please! The floor is now open...

Thanks!

I personally hate Android...and I am just not into tablets, myself...I have no use for anything above 96 K...and that is just my opinions, so please take no offense. I do appreciate the input. I am curious why you would use the VS 100 which is made by Roland with Cubase as opposed to X2, though? Just soaking up knowledge here and picking peoples brains as much as I can before I go buy...I have in past been impulsive, which has made me buy things without educating myself enough to figure out I did NOT NEED what I bought...

I understand that....I, too, don't care much for the Tablet - Ipad - Iphone frenzie...just an option I thought I would
point out...

I gripe to IKMultimedia all the time about their iCrap...they've gone I crazy and continue to neglect the SampleTank line...now with no improvements or support for over 3 years...

At the time I had the VS100 I was still a Cubase user, so that's why....and it worked very well.
Didn't switch to Sonar until X1 was released...I was very impressed.

I am currently re-trying Cubase 7, and I have to say the feature set is impressive, putting Sonar to shame...
The interface isn't as nice as Sonars...but the interface "asthetics" is not really what's important, what IS
important is HOW I can get the work done...and Cubase 7 does this exceptionally well.  It's a tremendous
improvement over previous versions.  The new Meter system is a great improvement also.

I'm also using Studio One 2.5, and, while the workflow takes a LOT of getting use to, it is quite a remarkable
program.

I'd REALLY like to get my hands on a demo of Digital Performer 8 for Windows (if it ever arrives), as this is one
of the TOP choices of Film Makers for audio...

I'm not closed minded when it comes to working with Audio.  That's the main reason I switched to X1.  But I feel
that Cake has gone to "fluff" rather then substance.  I know "touch" is the wave of the future..but it has NO EFFECT
on SOUND or how we work (it's just an alternative to a mouse)....it's just "FLUFF".  Likewise Breverb, and TH2 additions are "FLUFF" not improvements, being 3rd party.  The workflow enhancements were welcome.

I think Sonar is an ABSOLUTELY stellar DAW.  But their refusal to adopt new standards that are being developed
merely as an "afront" to Steinberg is, IMHO, ludicrous - especially when 3rd parties and other DAW's are FLOCKING
to take advantage of them (must be a GOOD reason - I would think anyways)!

The bottom line is I have to use what's best for ME.

I know the fanbois here will go crazy...as most people find something and then "SHUT DOWN" all others, without

ever even knowing the in's and out's of WHY.  They pick something, and then everything else becomes crap simply
because they have made "their choice"...even if not based on anything REAL.

I'll never be closed minded....I approach all things with equal respect and give them their due.  I have to make the
choice - but I prefer to do so "objectively" rather then "subjectively".  That was why I switched to Sonar in the first
place.  It's just becoming harder and harder to get it to work properly with each update.

I installed Cubase 7 and went right to work..no tweaks, no crashes, and lot's of plugins...with not a lot of taxing
on the CPU

I installed Studio One 2.5 and went right to work...no tweaks, no crashes, and lot's of plugins...with not a lot of
taxing on the CPU.

I installed Fruity Loops....I didn't care for it, but there were no issues. (that I encountered)
I installed Reaper...also, didn't care for it, but there were no issues (that I encountered)

I've tried lot's of DAW's.  You can't develop an "objective" opinion without TRYING the others too.

With the initial install of X2, if I opened an X1 project and added a Waves plugin - CRASH.  I found the work
around, which was to save the X1 project in X2 under a new name and then re-open the project and all was well.  But it really
shouldn't be like that.  There must have been a "translation" issue with X2, don't really know.  Never got
any feedback on it.

I installed X2a, and I can't even load a few plugins before CPU 1 goes "schizoid"  I don't know if this is related
to the Touch support or what, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad with X1d and X2...the A update seems to
have done something.  What I don't know....but I don't want to "reinvent" my system with tweaks every time
an update is released.  I have MORE then enough RAM and more then enough system.  Every other program
I use works right out of the gate.  I haven't had a single issue with any of them (not that there aren't any)
I know that software will ALWAYS have issues, but the others seem to be far less then Sonar, and I think
installing the "Touch" support should be an OPTION, not PART of an update.

These things are just ME so don't take offense "fanbois"  I respect your opinions, so please respect mine.
I know all the "tweaks and twists" that are talked about here...I just think that it's really getting "out of hand"
with Sonar when, every time you install an update, you have to "re-tweak" your system and do this that
and the other, even when your hardware has not changed at all.

I have a Degree is CIS, so I'm no stranger to system issues.  But if you have to do or change something every time you
install an update then I think things need to be re-examined - but again, that's just ME.

So I'm currently TRYING and RE-TRYING different options...

I REALLY love Sonar's interface and workflow...but the feature set is what gets the job done (for me)
and stability above and beyond all else.

IF I could have Sonar's interface and workflow with Cubases FEATURE SET and stability (so far)...THAT would be IDEAL!

The jury is still out....I'll have to just see where the buck stops...for me.

No problem....

The use of ANY DAW is a "personal" thing for the mixer/producer....and that's how it should be.

If you want a CS to use with all the DAWs out there get a Mackie Control. There is none better.

Wow! I really like to read about how you experience it. I agree with you on some parts. Cubase 7 and SONAR X2 FEATUREs included in one DAW would be the ultimate choice.

While we comparing features.

*SONAR X2 is first on touch support that actually work! Cubase 7 support touch too but not as good as SONAR X2 yet.

*SONAR X2 Pro Channel included modules are even better then the "top notch" professional plugins out there. Some of the Pro channel modules sounds even better or the same as then UAD and Waves plugins. All included in the SONAR X2 producer pack. Pro Channel modules are programed to take advantage of latest technology, low CPU and "Skylight" use of INTEL AVX technology. I have heard the future can bring even more to the table like CUDA support etc.

SONAR Pro Channel!

*Cubase 7 new included channel stips plugins are not the same compare to SONAR Pro Channel or UAD. Cubase 7 channelstrip doesn't even play in same leauge but still very convenient that Steinberg have "copied" SONAR X2 features. Overall it's still very useful plugins.

*Cubase 7 new mixer GUI features, what can I say..WOW..amazing! I hope Cakewalk SONAR copy that flexibility and features. Suits me that work with many tracks +100 and list at Left pr dock it what ever you want.  In a near update (pre Feburary 2013) Cuabse 7 will also be able to color the channels with a color. Like the same feature you have in PRO TOOLS Mixer. Great feature and nice color of the MIXER, Dark! Hear hear Cakewalk!!!

Cubase 7 Mixer!

*All docking systems are once more copies from SONAR X2 and Studio One features. Great new features in all DAWs.

*Finally in year 2013 Cubase have ICONS!!! (Still doesn't work or show correctly in Trackview, BUG!) You can make you own icons on anything, any picture. SONAR, Logic have had Icons for years..

A visibility thing that are very helpful.

SONAR X2 does not support VST3 yet? VERY Strange??? Cakewalk are very fast on adopt to all other new technologies but not to VST3?
It beats me!
When it comes to graphic SONAR are just sweet! Best overall look out there!
But if it comes to set of advance features Cubase 7 has no match. It win anytime! I wish Cakewalk SONAR copied more of all advance features and editors found in Cubase. 60% of you all SONAR users will perhaps not ever need to use it but I sometimes find the need of more set of advance features that are not included in SONAR X2 today. It's not a deal breaker but still!
Batch support. Better Score and video function. Pro score notation, VST3, Include Audio editor, Better comping - track lanes feature, Melodyne ARA, MIDI smart VST3 support, CRL+D = Copy Clip, Make clip boundaries to automatic match "Bars and beats", control room,Better hardware controller support SSL

Still SONAR have all the features you will ever need to Produce any professional song and Album, filmtrack, scoring, post production etc.
Pro Tools HD have non of above features of Cubase 7 or SONAR X2 or any other DAW. Even fruit the loops have more features and are better DAW then Pro Tools. Still some confused producers and songwriters keep using Pro Tools HD x32...? Not because its good, its because that is the only thing they know, and they have no will of learning something new and better.
For you all that don't know, Pro Tools doesn't even support x64 or Windows 7 x64 and are the last DAW on the market not be able to do so - 2013.

It's a strange world! LOL
