• SONAR
  • Pentagon and PsynII and some other things won't load [SOLVED]

I just did a clean install with Windows 8, and this is my first time going 64-bit, so that might be the problem. Will Pentagon and PsynII and other 32-bit apps not run in a 64-bit environment?

When I was installing X2, for several plugins and synths, it was unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 fail with exit code Ox3. I had to hit ignore to keep the installation going.

These plugins and synth don't show up in X2 now, and songs I've used them in, of course won't play correctly.

Anyone know what the problem is here? Thanks.

Don't have Win8 but I am guessing it is a permissions issue. Did you run the installer as administrator? If not try a custom install as administrator. The work in 64bit SONAR on Win7.

I am considered an administrator when I log in. So that shouldn't be it.
Thanks.

There is a 64 bit version of Pentagon, not sure about PsynII

Google and this site have many threads referencing this error not specific to Win8 though I do not think that matters. Here is an example http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1821216

FYI PSYNII also runs in SONAR x2 64bit on Win7 I just loaded it up to make sure.

I was having trouble running one of these synths (can't remember which one) on Win 7 with X2 (worked fine in X1). I now run X2 with admin privileges and can run both synths. I just checked again now that I have Windows 8 installed and they both come up fine.

I did not try to go back to non-admin and try.

Mark so am I, but I couldn't get Rapture to install properly until I specifically selected "Run As Administrator" from the install.

This cured it.

I had problems with a few VSTs, including these two.

I now set X1 and X2 to always open as administrator, and everything works fine.

Nope. You have to right click and select Run As Administrator.

If you right click on Sonar and select properties, then the Compatibility tab , and check "Run this program as an adminisrator", then it will always open like this.
