Thanks to this forum, I can't use line-breaks. Bear with me while I type on a broken forum about broken software. Here's what's busted in X2: Audio keeps dropping out and requires restart of software to fix, velocity tails default to ON even when unchecked—have to turn on and off to disable, key-bindings are awkward and randomly stop-working (showstopper for me), step-record time advance (enter key) tries to rename my track and thus, doesn't work. Step-record is thus unusable. Basically, I can't use X2. I am actively demoing the competition so I can get away from this buggy software and this gawd-awful buggy forum. It's sad because I've been using Cakewalk software since the 90s and it's grown into a bloated, buggy mess. Coming to a broken forum is no consolation.

With every new product you have to take time to learn the product. Not every computer is the same. Some are older and some have problems with the amount of data they have to process. And like yourself you need time to process X2.
When you change something in your computer because you read it in this forum you are doing it yourself. Nobody told you to. But then to blame the forum and to say that it's broken is in my oppinion childish.
Everyone on the forum is here because they have a common hobby. They are also here to help anyone with different problems they had with the program. Making life (and hobby) a little easier. Moderators(cake bakers) that do come around at different times to also give you the best advice they can.
90 percent of the time i see feeds by this forum that are usually resolved by themselves after getting some help as to which way to look at the problem and find out that it was because they didnt know the program as well as they thought.
There is no buggy forum and no buggy software, just buggy users that whine al the time.

Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions.

Yes you can.

If you're a Firefox user, install IE Tab or get FireFox 3.6 for exclusive use in this forum.

Else, K.I.S.S. and get Chrome for this forum.

This subject has been beaten to death, BTW. Ya, the forum software sux because it's seriously out of date and like all "good" software there are work arounds.

HTH.

Err.. Tending to agree to some degree. But I'd avoid strong expressions "bloated, buggy mess" and so. Cakewalk follows some definite strategy of  high-level programming. You are seeing the result in each new consequent release since Sonar 1.

All competition do exactly the same, but may be (sometimes) with a bit of testing, when the weather allows.

I had sudden issues with the audio engine in X1 crashing, but have not yet had a problem with X2 and I'm still using XP.

Since you didn't bother to tell us what equipment you have, how can we possibly offer any suggestions?

I had some crashing problems with X2 initially, but I spent some time cleaning up my computer and its helped. First, I ran a CHKDSK and it fixed some disk drive problems. Then I archived all the old freebie VST plug-ins that were cluttering up my menus. Then I ran a FULL SCAN with my anti-virus (MS Security Essentials) and it found a trojan that was causing my Carbonite backup to not work. I didn't even it know was there. The Quick Scan didn't find it. Right now, X2 is running well and I've remixed a half-dozen old projects and I'm having fun.

The forum works great if you use Chrome (why would anyone use anything else?)
