Sorry, I'm pretty frustrated. Now that I am a bit calmer I can explain myself a bit better. First, this forum IS a broken mess. Yes, I can work around it, but do I want to? Not really. I use Firefox. Firefox is a well-known browswer. This forum needs to be less broken so it can do very basic things with Firefox, like quoting and line-breaks. This forum is objectively broken and requires kludges to fix, but that doesn't change the premise. This is the worst forum I've ever seen. Not the people, the functionality. You guys and girls seem pretty great and I appreciate your relative patience with this frustrated user. Second, I've been using Cakewalk since the 90s, which I know I already mentioned, but I'm not here to troll. I have seen Cakewalk evolve and have purchased it through many iterations. It's simply unusable now for some of the reasons listed. I am actively looking for competing products to replace Sonar. I'm not a famous musician, but I've released plenty of songs and have created far more than that using Cakewalk products. If I were happy with X2, I wouldn't be here talking about it. The only reason I came here was to address various issues with X2, which I paid good money for, and I can't even use it. The forum being klunky and broken just convinced me that Cakewalk is ok with poor functionality. How can this forum survive 10 minutes under any kind of review and not be something that needs fixing, post-haste? Yes, I know databases are a pain to move, but the pain either lies with users unable to use a forum properly vs. the temporary pain of fixing a forum. Also, I'm a software developer and am held to high-standards of functionality with this stuff. I tend not to make excuses for companies who release broken software or have busted-up forums. The best solution? Stop releasing hundreds of new features and introducing bugs and tighten up quality-control, and this includes all aspects of the user-experience (forums included). My equipment: Dual Xeon Hexacore PC, 24 cores, 48GB DDR3 RAM, Win 7 with latest service packs, Malwarebytes and MSE virus/malware checked and maintained, HDs have been defragged, etc. X2 is the latest build with hotfix applied. Interface is a Roland OctaCapture with latest drivers and it's a very basic setup right now. I installed X2 fresh only a few days ago. X2 is broken in the ways I mentioned earlier. I'm in the process of trying Reason, DP8, Logic etc. to see how those work. So far so good with Reason, and it's way more stable. What kills me about X2 is that everything I touch is broken. Hotkeys don't 'stick', and that makes working more difficult. Editing the piano roll is exceedingly difficult without these hotkeys. The step sequencer doesn't time-advance because the enter key tries to change the name of my track (focus bug). The audio engine stops working constantly, forcing software restart (showstopper). ..and more. Of course, you won't see line breaks because this forum is broken. Sorry if it's difficult-to-read. I won't use a different browser because that disguises the problem. Cakewalk needs to FIX IT ASAP. It's terrible P.R. and does not bode well for their software and quality-control. There is a point where I *will* blame the tools if they don't work, and if I know competing tools DO work for the functions I need most. I'm a long-time user, but I'm on my way out and unlike most customers, I'm giving Cakewalk the luxury of knowing why they're about to lose my business.
