Wookie- Thanks for listening!
Lynn- Thanks for your opinions!
SteveC-Hey you took your pic down man. I'll know you if I see you in Parkesburg :) Thanks for listening to the tune. I'll revisit the drums in the mix. I had bifilter on the guitar and it sounded better..but it also seemed less apparent as a lead instrument...I like the personality of the tele, but I can see where it might be too forward or gritty in this mix. I am going to address that. Thanks for listening.

John- Thanks for listening!
teego-Thanks! Still working on the mix.
Geo and shawn- Thanks for listening guys!

Herb- Ok Herb you and I see things slightly differently :) I came to Herb with a vocal and an acoustic guitar melody...no drums or anything else. So I wouldn't say I came to him with anything near complete.I had an idea that was country and I knew if Herb couldn't do country no one could. When I brought it to him, the lyrics were still in process....so as I see it he co wrote the song, even though he doesn't see it that way. It's a wonder he didn't wring my neck..we took a long time just to determine a tempo....way too long. I flip flopped on tempo a few times until we had a starting point.

Herb is correct, I was more for grittier and rockier, but country today has those elements in it, and so I was trying to compromise a little. We ended up with the tele which I love aside from a few adjustments to tone it down some.Herb I wouldnt trade that mex tele in...it sounds great IMO. maybe just make an adjustment on the POD , that's all.

I agree with Herb on the bass. It was a struggle to get a bass track. I played a few bass tracks on my real bass and it seemed to me that his midi bass sounded better overall. We are still going back and forth over the bass.I'm open to change it. I think he has a point about the bass as it is now.It isn't bad but I think he hears something better.

I'm not really having as much of an issue with the drums as they are, I can hear some changes here and there but nothing earth shattering. I'll certainly bring them up.If Herb hears a better rhythm, I'm not going to argue that point, I'm all for improvement whatever form that might take.

We have spent a lot of time on this song no doubt. I like that we have different approaches. I think Herb brought a lot of great ideas along that improved the song and I'd work with him after this...if he'd have me lol.

OK, I have to ask...  where are you located?    Not many people would ever write "if I see you in Parkesburg".

For the guitar, I'd run it through the Quad Curve EQ and use the high and high-mid bands at max 18db and narrow Q to find any potential trouble spots - the FFT graph can help here -  then reduce those frequencies by a small amount.  It might require more than two bands in which case I'd just stack the Sonitus EQ since it's a cutting operation.   I've done this many times and it can really make a difference in the mix.

Well I drive trough Parkesburg on my way to Christiana and to Georgetown several times a week, when I don't go that way, I'm going to West Chester on 30....I'm darned close, but I promise I won't be stalking you ;)

Thanks for the tips on the guitar. I hope I can work on the mix this weekend and I'll repost a better track then.

Whoa... yeah, that is close!   Kind of like one of those "I can almost see you from here" moments.    Seriously, if I were to walk up to the farm behind my house (not my farm!) I can see Rt 10 and the back of WalMart.

You're welcome.   EQ'ing amp sims really can make a big difference.  Oh, I did find the one thread started by Craig that I was thinking of: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Tip-Sweeter-TH2-Sounds-m2933481.aspx

yea...cool tune...overall still too sizzly for my ears...so much so that it comes across as the vox is too hot...which i'm guessing is more an audio illusion then not...if you ever want a 3rd part mix let me know...this one should take more than tweaks to bring her up quite a few notches....

Great tune!!

SteveC- Man you probably hear my car drive by :)... I'm in Christiana but I pass through there all the time...WalMart, I try to stay away from there but sometimes I end up there.Hmmm...sounds like you live really close to Barr ( his last name)

I lowered the guitar volume. Now it almost seems too low to my ears, but it seems to fit in the song. I gave the drums a little more presence.

thepogue- I worked with the vox and I can bring it a few db lower/EQ to maybe blend better but too low and I lose it and the window is smaller than you might think. Thanks for listening.

FWIW here is Herbs PG version of the same song- He went more acoustic and it's PG...in the other mix there is no PG. Herb did a good job with it.

"runnin' from the hands that made you" seems a bit odd to me.

I would change hands to hearts. JMO.

Great lyrics and harmonies. In the intro (0:13) there seems to be some timing issue. Did not hear it anywhere else.

I'm not sure who Barr is (?), but if you're in Christiana chances are we've driven by each other a few times.

I do like the other version as well, but I think yours has a more "contemporary" sound.
