Well I installed X2 today and a few things worth mentioning (Upgrading from X1 to X2) to help others or if you have not yet started your installs. I decided to put all in one post, to reduce all of the searching etc. Hopefully others will add to this list. Cuz these few thing could have helped me a lot and reduced some frustration.

1) Sonar X2
  • If you used IE to download or could not rn the install packages, make sure each file has the ".exe" File extentions. If not then add to each file that has an 01,02,03,04 or 05 prefix in the name. Then retry to install.
  • When you execute the install package, it will take a bit to create the bin file before it starts to execute. In my case it took 25 minutes. DO NOT Walk away from your machine!! You will have a limited amount of time to approve the user account control prompt.  If you are not there in time, you have to start over and wait for the bin file to be ready again (in my case, another 25 minutes).
2) Dimension Pro 1.5
  • If you already have Dimension Pro 1.5 you don't need to install it again.

3) Symphony Strings
  • Extract the files and then go to that location and execute the setup file. Wasn't obvious to me the first 3 times.
  • Once you think you have installed it, open Dimension Pro and look in the sound selection menu for Symphony Strings , if you don't see it click F5 and it should be there. Took me a couple of times to get it right.
4) Demo songs
  • A Cakewalk Projects folder will be created on your root of C: drive. You can find the demo song there.
5) Using the first time
  • Would be good to watch the webinar of what is differences in this version. I know, sounds like a no brainer, but you will see things that are not as the appear at first glance. As i did.
6) PKCompressor, PKGate and Concrete Limiter.
  • Not sure what verion they are, Don't know if they are different from my current versions which I got when I purchased X1 in December 2011 (9 months ago). So I am thinking there is not differrence. So I am not going to install each twice (32 & 64 bit).

Thanks for posting this.  Have already downloaded, but it's nice that someone took the time to put this up for people who haven't.

Thanks, I added .exe to the 4 X2 files but not to the others, perhaps that is my problem. I am tempted to delet it all and download it all again with Chrome... what a bunch of IE BS...

Thanks for the help. I REALLY needed to get upset before bedtime... I really did.

Thanks again..

Julien

And what about RAPTURE 1.22 ? Cakewalk send us new serial number and registration code, but is it the same version already existing in Sonar X1 ? Have we to ignore it as it is the case with Dimension Pro ???

    Thanks

Rapture will install automatically with X2.  You will be prompted to enter the codes and click next.

There has been nothing posted regarding the need to install Rapture. It would be handy if CW staff would let us know what release and file version is being installed, if the programs have changed and if the expansions packs are applied.

Can you uninstall X1 after X2 has been installed?
