  • Will there be an X1E bugfix update before or after X2 is released? (p.4)

But if Cakewalk put out 'The Perfect DAW' so to speak.
One with no issues at all, I'd still be on S6PE.
That would definitely put them out of business.
There would be no need to upgrade.

That said. I do agree that they should at least put out one more patch for those that cant afford to upgrade every year and would like a working product.

I hope Im very wrong about this,  but I don't think that the Bakers will put out any updates for X1 now. Its just too close to X2. This may be a bit mean and blunt, but Im not thinking Cake or any other major Host developer cares very much about those ppl that "can't" afford a $100 or so upgrade every year or so..  And I have not the funds to purchase my corvette too. Any help would be appreciated

Continuing down a path of COMPLETE disregard of the professional customers WILL result in the DOWNFALL and DEMISE of CAKEWALK.

Wow...

After X1's release it was predicted that CW was done, finished, no more.   Almost two years later and it's apparent that those predictions were simply way off. And something tells me that X2's release won't be anything like X1.  A x.0 release? Yeah, more than likely, but more like a typical new version.  So the statement quoted above is obviously frustration, but certainly not a sign of things to come IMHO.    Assuming my prediction about X2 vs. X1 is anywhere near accurate, of course..

I'm confused.  The consensus in this thread seems to be that there are no more X1 updates coming - and the next release from CW will be X2....

But in this thread dated Aug 01 2012:

http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2628970

... Robin seems to be saying otherwise.  Did I misunderstand?  Was this discussed/corrected somewhere else?

What am I missing?

Yep, misunderstood :) He means the next update of information - not software update. More NEWS will be released at the end of August, not an update to X1.
Whew, well, now that makes sense.  Thanks, Matt.

Sonar will not make the perfect DAW or they will be out of business...hmm very true. So creating who haa on the forums by putting out a crocked Sonar is money spinning.

Wow they connin us!

I guess I will stick to X1 for the next ten years then!

Actually, it happened once: http://www.cakewalk.com/S...kb/reader.aspx/2005283 4.0.3 had severe gapping issues, and even though 5.0 had already been announced, they released 4.0.4. But I guess they were different times though ... (Ron Kuper cough cough...) - Mario

Have fun!  You certainly wouldn't be the only one not using the latest version, just as there are people using 8.5 (and older versions) right now.  You use whatever works best for you - that seems like common sense to me.   I'll be enjoying my X8 with the included brain wave reader API by that point.

sometimes i come here and am surprised by the crazy large number of bug related threads. it's like a nightmare, that was haunting me, up until the day i bought a copy of studio one. my life (and sleep) is much better nowadays. gonna keep an eye on X2... that gapless audio engine S1V2 has, Cakewalk should look at this and copy it for sure.

S1 does have an advantage in this respect because it's so much newer.   But I have noticed that while the v1 cycle seemd to be more about all the things S1 didn't have, there have been more bug reports (at least on the forum) since v2 was released.  And from a few regulars.   Even with 2.05 and 2.06 there are/were users reverting to previous builds because of issues encountered in the later releases.   But such is life with an evolving DAW...  the more you add, the more potential for issues!

There sure as hell NEEDS to be one. X1 d killed fastbaouncing of timecode based plugins (antare, melodyne, gtr rig, waves) Takes more than twice as long to bounce everything. Still can't drag a midi effect from clip to clip or clip to bin. Can't delete a clip with a midi effect on it. Still have reberb tails pasted on the beginnings of song exports. Half the time transients are detected that aren't even there (every quarternote). Have to revert to 8.53 for reliable transient detection. Plugin delay compensation problems. Cakewalk needs to take responsibility for what THEY BROKE in X1D. I've been writing and calling since March about all of the screwed up issues. I officially stopped recommending Sonar as of X1. Customer service sucks!! When I called and asked when Fastbouncing timecode plugins be fixed, They said, 'it's fixed in X2'. I said, 'Oh great, when are you fixing it in X1?' They told me that they weren't fixing X1. Complete --BULL**** There's been plenty of time to take care of the customers that only want what they've already paid for... a working product, Not a substandard piece of crap. Continuing down a path of COMPLETE disregard of the professional customers WILL result in the DOWNFALL and DEMISE of CAKEWALK.

exactly. If they will fix these (and other) bugs I will trust them and probably buy sonar upgrades in the future. if they don't: I am done with sonar and will search for a more reliable platform. so at least with me the stragegy to force one to upgrade in oder to get fixes does not work. I strongly suggest cakewalk to rethink thir business strategy in this respect. X1 is far from mature and I doubt that X2 will be better.

best, drjee
