Hi Guys,

I know this involves old versions of Sonar and I don't expect any answers specific to the scenario at hand, but am just wondering if any of you might have some guesses what might have happened or maybe ,,,how to troubleshoot....

I installed S2 and S5, and LiveSynth Pro was alive and well in both.  Then for the first time I installed S6 and everything seems fine - with one big exception - LiveSynth Pro is no longer available.  Not in S2 or S5 either.  It's as if it just up and vanished.   I even went as far as to go to Windows Add/Remove Programs, uninstalled LSP and then reinstalled it, and it STILL doesn't show up in any of the Sonars.   What the frig..???

Do you know that livesynthpro that was included with Sonar is a demo? It really is not any better than other soundfont players out there already with it's demo limitations unless of course you upgraded to the full version.

Probably better to use google than try here. Good luck in finding a solution that you need.

I don't believe the LSP I have is the version included with Sonar.  It has it's own installer.  Been so many years I'd have to go back and sort through emails and paperwork, all I know is it always worked great until I installed S6 for the first time.  Now LSP is "gone" , no longer seen by any of the prior Sonar versions either.  As I said, even going into Add/Remove programs and uninstalling/reinstalling will not fix things.  Never seen anything like this before.  Did S6 intentionally break LSP because that plug-in went out of business circa that timeframe?  Was that some kind of intentional decision by Cake to insure it would not be supported any longer?   I'm grasping at straws here....

This is what I found, pretty much same problem, but no solution ever posted: http://forum.cakewalk.com/LiveSynth-Pro-missing-m867560.aspx

Is your version of SONAR 6 64 bit?  LSP is only available as a 32 bit DXi and would not show up in that case.

Nope, everything is 32 bit.  I found a few more links of people reporting similar things after installing (upgrading to) S6.  But no solution ever reported back, nor acknowledgement from Cake that this is indeed a problem.  No idea what to make of this.  Unless somebody comes up with a revelation as to how to fix/avoid this problem, it looks like I'll have to forego moving to S6.  :(

How about just using sfz for soundfonts.  Sonar that far back might even come with VS3, which also does soundfonts...both 32bit
LSP always played back very sloppy and the timing always sucked...at least for me...

Problem is I have 100+ projects already using LSP and want to keep backward compatibility.   Further, until I better understand the problem with LSP and S6 I'm leery of moving to S6 out of fear there could be other unknown consequences.

I've got a test system running right now exhibiting the LSP/S6 problem, so if anybody has any thoughts or ideas as to how I might troubleshoot or learn more about the problem, please chime in....

After upgrading windows from an earlier windows, a few years ago LSP was not supported by new windows.

Thanks for that info.  I'm on XP32 and plan to stay there so Windows rev shouldn't be a problem.

I have a multi core system, solid OS, lots of great plugs, great drum synths and outboard guitar gear.  And motherboards rated at 300,000+ MTB hours, so I'll be good for many years to come.  I was just excited about moving to S6 because there's some features I was interested in and had always said when I eventually rebuilt my DAW I'd move to S6.  However, that now looks like it ain't happening unless I can figure out this strange LSP dilemma.
