  • Someone here had a suggestion for screen cap software that could record ASIO (p.2)

+1 VoiceMeeter for the Audio routing.

A genuine suggestion @Sycraft - not teaching you to suck eggs ...
(Because e.g, I was as the current @MaximumPower discussion an have posted before - maybe even your original discussion).

I use the capture software that came with Corel video studio. It will capture my mic input, but it doesn't capture Sonar's outputs. To work around this I use Mrecorder from Melda productions. i just slap it on the master bus, turn on the screen capture and Mrecorder and go. After I'm done I sync them up, which is easy because all I have to do is match the voice from the capture software to the voice from Mrecorder. Only takes about 2 min. Here is something I did recently using this method.

Corel video studio.

Hi Chandler,

So that video was created with Corel Video Studio? I must look into that...

I tried something called Lightworks at the weekend and it was a nightmare. May have been cause by the videos I captured with Debut, but in the end I gave up. I had all sorts of problems, including my audio being played faster for some reason. Or the video would freeze...

I gave up in end and un-installed the lot.

Synkrotron,

Yes I did it using Corel video studio. It has an easy to use video capture program and afterwards I just tale the wav file I made using Mrecorder(which is free) and add that to Video studio. From there it's just a matter of syncing the voices and then muting the video. It would be nice if there were a way to record the DAWs output directly, but I don't know if a good way that doesn't involve syncing afterwards. Luckily the syncing is easy once you get the hang of it.

Okay, thanks

I downloaded the 30 day trial of Video Studio last night and had a play. It's not as easy to use as Adobe Premier (as far as I can remember... haven't used that for over ten years). But I suppose that this is reflected in the price of the software.

All I am doing is adding my music to a video and trying to sync the two together. Sounds easy enough but I'm not doing very well. Could do with some kind of "nudge" tool...

I haven't used it but I believe the video tools in Sonar are all about syncing up audio with 'nudge' etc and possibly other smarts to sync up markers(?)

I don't need to do it - because I use VoiceMeeter  - http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3230641

For clarity which may be getting blurred a bit above - there are 3 aspects:

1. Screen Capture / Video Recording (Single source and/or non-ASIO (e.g, MME/WDM) Audio)
2. Audio capture from Multiple source / ASIO devices (+ MME/WDM)
3. Video / Audio Editting

Corel Video Studio likely covers 1 & 3 - but possibly not 2 (?) (although it likely handles Single / MME/WDM devices).

Voicemeeter and MRecorder - squarely fit into 2.

BandiCam, LiteCam, Hypercam  - are likely just 1.

Hitfilm Express 2 is likely just 3 - ($5 - http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3230932)

Sonar - may be just the Audio of 3 - perhaps it includes snips/fades of the video too?

I didn't even think of using Sonar for video... But it doesn't look as though you can add titles and stuff, so I'm going to give it a miss. But thanks for reminding me.

FWIW, I finally managed to get something done in Corel Video Studio:-

FYI ... I'm not familiar with the product but SharewareOnSale has Apowersoft Screen Capture Pro down from $39.95 to ...
1. Free - no support, no updates - for 2+ days
2. $11.98 - support and updates for major version - for 6+ days

[Update]: Ahhh - do your homework/demo ... looks quite good but Vendor site suggests it might just be for static screen grabs ... and yet sharewareonsale is written ambiguously suggesting able to capture and record anything on screen including videos ... but that could mean a static screen cap(?).

I recently made 4-5 screencap vid tutorials for a friend just getting started on Sonar.  I used hypercam 2.  Worked perfectly with ASIO and captured my output of sonar with little fuss.  I did have one small issue (can't remember what it was) but I just googled it and it worked fine.  Great program, easy to use, and FREE.
