Alegria

"Janet"

Alegria is the one who put them all up on his website. Not sure if they're still there.

Hey Janet, it's been awhile and, of course they're still there. The only reason I would remove them is if I was asked to do so by the original author(s).

And here is the post for the project, which contains a link to the complete presentation.
  • "Missing Person" presentation... Happy New Year all!

To this day, this is the nicest and most interesting project I've seen coming out of the "Songs" forum for many reasons, IMHO. And I still listen to all songs in sequence once in a while. It would be nice to see a similar project take shape again, not as a competition but rather a challenge to put into practice all that we have learned over the years. Again, kudos to all participants for a job very well done indeed!
  • Hi JC... nice to hear from you again here at the forum...

Daryl1968: yes it is.... I wanted to do something with no synths and no artificial intelligence in it. just strings and wood.

Starise: you can sound as redundant as you wish..... thank you.

    yes
nice and solid arrangement, and all the playing is just perfect.
really nice lyric, and so plaintively delivered in the song, just really nice.
the violins set it off nicely.

Batsbrew:  thank you ...I agree 100% on the fiddles.

Violin vs fiddle.... I recall watching the Beverly Hillbillies and in one episode, one of Jed's cousins who was a fiddle player was visiting Jed & family..... Mr or Mrs Drysdale I believe had a friend who was a concert violinist visiting them and the 2 musicians got together at Jed's house.

The violinist "looked down his nose" at the country bumpkin fiddle player until the talk turned to money. The violinist bragged about his skills and was putting the fiddle player down when he asked the country fiddle player (who had a hit record) how much money he made playing the "fiddle" on "that" radio song, in a sarcastic, snobbish sort of way. The country gentleman fiddle player told him... maybe whispered in his ear..I don't recall the specifics..... but he concert violinist leaned back with eyes wide and said "really?"...... "Yup" was the response.... then the violinist asked..... "So show me exactly how that fiddling song goes"....

    My opinion of how a violin differs from a fiddle;

A violin plays notes from a sheet of paper, whereas a fiddle plays from the heart.

This argument never ceases to amaze me! *sigh*

I think it just the venacular depending on where one is. Like Harper and Harpist. Both can just read or just play with feeling if either chooses to.

Both versions sound great.  The new one sounds brighter and more clear.
