I want to chain the compressor input on my reverb send to the output of the actual synth track so that the reverb doesn't come on until after the attack and decay of the synth envelope. I have set up the sidechain input properly (I think) but I'm not getting any output from the send, I assume because it's a send and not a regular audio track. does sidechaining not work for sends or am I just doing something wrong? I have a compressor on my send (that I want to control) and a sidechain input going to that compressor from the audio track That I want to control it with. I was hoping to keep my sidechained tracks with the sends separate from my regular audio and midi tracks cause I'm weird like that.

You need to have a bus with the plugins in this order: Reverb -> Gate with side-chain input

Create a send (post) to the reverb bus from your track. Create a second send (pre) to the side-chain input. Adjust the gate threshold and release so that it reacts the way you want. You may need to adjust the send level to the side-chain input if it is too hot.

The Sonitus compressor can be set to act like a gate and contains a side-chain input.

This refers to the thread about SideChain Mixer, a handy utility for this kind of thing.
