@IK Obi

I NEVER said IK suck at what they do. I did say the IK forum is run like the gestapo. Why? Because there is no free speech there. Don't put words in my mouth when you can't even process what was said.

If saying that ST3 has been touted as  "in the works" for over 2 years now, that's not saying IK sucks. That's saying you guys at IK have been saying that for over 2 years now. Is that clear enough?

So you guys at IK can keep on making great plug ins and saying ST3 is in the works. Please come back in 2 years when ST3 is done and let us know. Also, please let us know of other great plug ins along the way.

I'll let IK Obi handle it from here forward, but just a one thing he may not have pointed out to you that should be crystal clear, and an offer to show confidence that your final statement about ST3 in 2 years is way off:

1.  There is no "free speech" on any forum, and it isn't any different on a company forum like IK's.  You agreed to whatever rules were set out there on the IK forum and moderators do their job to enforce those rules and if you do not agree with the rules or the enforcement of said rules you are welcome to avoid using the forum or contact an administrator, etc to make your case.  Seems pretty clear, and not unique to the IK forum.

2.  SampleTank 3 will be out by end of this year, 2013.  If not, I authorize Obi to give you you a serial for T-RackS CS Grand and another for AmpliTube 3 with his and IK's compliments.  That's a lot of $$ worth of software, and some crow to eat so you can see that this isn't a bet that is expected to be lost.

I hope that helps.  I'll let IK Obi take it from here.

The Maillard Reaction
Hey Peter,

The statement "There is no "free speech" on any forum," is of course an erroneous statement that can be undermined by any single contradictory instance.

Mangling logic to promote your agenda seems unnecessary, yet it seems to be the IK way of doing things.

Speaking of "rules"; the IK Multimedia Wiki page violates the external linking spam policy with dozens of instances of direct linking to your commercial site. Who did you get to write all that stuff?

Apparently, you are a web guru... here's some info that may be helpful:

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Spam#How_not_to_be_a_spammer

BTW, I'm not a IK Multmedia hater-vocal-minority-what-ever. I feel that IK's presumption that it can spam all over the universe with impunity seems somewhat charming.

Heck, I'd probably do it too.

In any event, I figure I'll try to have as much fun arguing with you as you guys seem to have arguing with us. :-)

 best regards,
mike

There is a big difference and that is that you don't allow any form of criticism or, "anything that can harm the reputation or sales of IK" on your forum.
You don't allow any third party links, still you are on a competitor forum doing exactly that.

There is a lot of companies with less rigid rules than yours. Actually I think all are...

Time to open up your eyes maybe?

Forums aren't free speech at all, sorry that's been a common thread covered at almost every forum ever.  I've seen it come up at KVR, Gearslutz, every audio forum for sure - and many others.  IK's forum is no different, and sorry if you don't like it you can provide the means to pimp other companies' products on their dime and time not on the forum IK provides.  Seems pretty straightforward.  The mods do their jobs, not always perfectly, but the job gets done.

By the way, we don't manage Wikipedia or our page on it.  Might want to read up on how that whole Wikipedia thing works.  We'd certainly do it differently anyway, that's a terrible Wikipedia page and I wouldn't want to be held responsible for creating that!  Thanks for the heads up, though.

I find it charming that people make so many presumptions about our presumptions (what IK does "with impunity", what causes their posts to be "censored") too.  Quite charming indeed, I'm glad you care enough that it touches a nerve, but I feel that it really shouldn't.

By the way, there are a few similar companies with almost the exact same rule (and many like the rest too, it really isn't rocket science to figure out what people will likely try to do on your company forum and then not like it when disallowed) mentioned in THEIR forum terms too, and yes they are all fairly strict as well (and that doesn't even included another DAW maker who used to and may still only allow you to see subforums for products you own and have registered - restrictive? I suppose a couple here may think so, nor are we a DAW maker so I don't feel we're on a "competitor's forum" here either...).

You see any similarities?
And I think you have agreed to Cakewalks forum rules too.
Is advertising allowed?

I can't believe this thread has regressed this far.

I personally have spent about $200 this week on IK multimedia products. I usually don't frequent the IK forums due to the policies that they have imposed but I support their Right to impose those polices on Their forums.

It is an entirely different mater when IK Multimedia comes over to the Cakewalk forums and starts telling their Customers that IK Multimedia is Right and the Customers are wrong. I'm not really sure what your motivation for this action is but I personalty feel like you're causing more damage than you realize.

Kind regards,
Rick

IK,

We were fully aware that ST3 would be out by the end of the year...

BUT, it's been promised for the PAST TWO YEARS previous to this...that is what he was saying...
NOT that it wouldn't be out for 2 more years...

AND, SampleTank has not been updated in the past 4 years...NOTHING!!!

Yet your company finds the time and the resources to
update everything, and even updates TO the updates, AND to develop 150 billion iCraps...while
the ST line has gone untouched...

That's what this thread has been about...IK's failure to "do the do" with SampleTank...
I, for one, won't be buying it...or anything else IK, purely for this reason...
and I'm actually sorry I wasted my money on Total Studio....

Everyone else, they'll buy whatever you put out...they're OCD about this stuff...
But, when a company doesn't do the right thing by it's customers...I draw the line...
I don't need any plugin that bad...sorry..just don't, nor will I recommend them
to any of my peers...I may only be one person...but the world doesn't change unless
ONE PERSON acts...I may lose the war...but I won't lose my money again...
I'm not waiting another 5 years for an update to ST 3.....and there a lot of other "Fish in the Sea"
to spend my dollars on...

Wishing your company the best!

My only beef with IK is the forum. Why even have a forum if your members can't help if you have a problem. I know all about the "you have to contact CS". The thing is, what if your working and could use the information quickly and someone on the forum can help with the problem and your back in business? Your CS seems awfully busy since IK Obi will get your ticket number and fast track you. It is nice oh him to do that but honestly, why should he have to?  It seems to me that you can alleviate the work load of CS by letting people help each other on the forum. That's what I love about the Cakewalk forum. The good news is your mods over at IK are better at keeping the BS from getting out of hand but not all of it's BS.

I hope you do get ST3 out this year. A lot of people have been waiting for a long time. I hope it's legible. I'm tired of buying software that's to hard to read.

Betting in the software forum now?  Oh my.  So is the deal for the free crow for everyone or just Guitarpima? I'd prefer chicken though if there is an option.
