IK Obi
? Why instigate things?

Thanks to those that do want me around, I appreciate it.

Sorry but every time your passion to win drives you to go firing off even on those that offered no offense like you did there and in the past, our relationship will get colorful.
I didn't participate much in that thread because to be honest, I don't care about 64 bit compatibility or when Sample Tank is going to come out.
I really do like and have no issues with my current few IK plugs. I've even come to terms with the ithingy craze and entertain the idea that it may be keeping the lights on during these trying times.

I'm making a vow to never again buy anything from IK mostly because of the revelation about how monitored and censored the discussion is in the forums there and the other IK rep Pete really left a bad impression on me. Seems he really thought he was scoring points in there somehow, I'm thinking the lack of open discussion and unwillingness to consider any critisizm is a common theme of a company that has lost the plot. I won’t be investing in it in the future.

The A+ was because it seems you offered an apology and excepted the fact that your actions had a bit to do with the direction of that thread I do respect that

I've no bone to pick with IKM (and really, not with anybody except maybe those Dub Turbo spammers).

But I'm wondering why the IK guys are so often assaulted on forums, especially on KVR? Granted, sometimes that's an unfriendly place, but most other vendors are treated better. Some, like Urs Heckmann and Sean Costello, are rock stars in KVR-Land.

What would Obi and Peter have to do to get that kind of respect? Just wondering.

Are you serious, Bit man?  How about acting in a professional, respectful manner, for starters.  Respect your customers and you'll get respect.  Real customer service personnel would never even think of arguing, attacking, and insulting their customers in a public forum.  They wouldn't proudly proclaim that the era of "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" is over.  They wouldn't accuse people who question their business practices (which, you must admit, are highly questionable) of having some hidden agenda or other "issues."  They wouldn't answer customer complaints with snide and sarcastic remarks.  They wouldn't state that a problem a customer is having couldn't possibly happen (effectively calling him a liar).  And they wouldn't come onto another company's forum and berate their customers there, too.  You can be sure they'd never allow CW reps to come on their site and pull that kind of crap.

If you think I'm exaggerating about any of this, I can point you exactly to where all these things happened, all within the last few days, all in public, some on this very forum.  I am not making it up.  Pretty surreal that company reps who supposedly are paid to help their business seem to think that being obnoxious does them any good.  How does such behavior increase sales or goodwill?  I don't get it.

Contrast the IK Way with how folks from other companies do things.  Costello, Heckmann, Gamble, Slate, Carnes, Sardo, Breebaart, Frenzel, and other devs (not to mention shopkeepers Belmont and Dahlberg) are "rock stars" because they ACT PROFESSIONAL and COURTEOUS toward customers, both prospective and current.  If IK would do the same, they'd get a lot more respect, I'm sure.

Cheers,
Eddie

Stop assuming that this audience is hot for Slash's tones or realize that (almost) none of us care about iXXXXX products?

How do you know they are not hot for Slash's tone?

IIRC almost no one (who responded) in the announcement thread seem interested. Especially me and its all about iMe.

But there may be a million teenage kids that bought that in which case IK would be idiots not to focus on it.

I concede that your "may be" is stronger than my observation.

IK Obi

Maybe, I'm still debating with my colleagues about this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com...Racks-m2869558-p2.aspx

That's all.

The TOS is there so nike and pleas from Liberia etc. can be banned/deleted w/o a lawsuit following about freedom of speech.  It is also there so other DAW makers don't legally come slag Cakewalk or poach customers officially.

What it does allow is obi and smaller guys who don't produce directly competing products to bump their products.  And us users to say w/ use X product w/o fear of getting banned etc.

It is all rather common sense, but the boiler plate is necessary.
