This thread is an invitation to break the TOS, from the start - though I do believe that it isn't the OP's intention.

Sorry about this.  Exactly right.  My intention was not, "to open a door, for people to break the TOS."  My intention was to make, "a silly joke thread."  I believe this thread to be in tune with my prior behavior, however I feel my OP was taken totally out of context.

How many times in the Coffeehouse do we copy threads, that already exist on the forum?

I could have just as easily titled this thread, "A comment on the future of Yul Brenner, especially my Fair Lady."

"Your dead.  The musical sucked.  And your socks stink."

IMHO, this thread has been taken way too seriously, and I take full responsibility for it.  At my age I should have known that people have many different feelings about society.

My upbringing was a very hard and negative one.  I've spent many years, trying to rebuild my mindset to a more positive point of view.  Sometimes I blow off steam, and it is an insight into the negative behavior that my parents instilled in me from beginning years.

Do not to make any mistake here, that I am being quite serious right now.  If I say, "the world is doomed," its a truth, and feeling.  However, it may not be the most correct truth, and or feeling.  Unlike computers, human beings understand many different types of truth.  As doomed  as the world may seem at times, there is actually a lot of positive stuff going on here.

During the last 11 years, I have rebuilt myself from an absolutely scattered street wreck, to somebody who works for himself, has nice sized knowledge of music, martial arts, yoga, and marketing.  As of very late, I have been spending a lot of time here, teaching myself computer science...  http://safaribooksonline.com

I am not going to promote any sort of religion or way of spirituality thinking, but I will say this:  If you ever find yourself, in a gutter in Los Angeles, shaking, shivering, scared, alone, confused, and nearly dead..  If you can find something that guides you back from such a dark place, you most likely found some sort of light.

In closing:  I did not mean for this thread to be a serious discussion on anything left, right, center.  I believe all people have a right to follow their choice of spirituality, as well as to not follow any.  As doomed as the world may seem at times, the truth may be more gray than black or white.  If you can read between the lines, maybe you can get an insight into how I see myself; I consider myself to be a spiritual creature.

My OP was taken out of context.  I won't be making such confusing jokes again.

Peace.

Just for fun and pure speculation;

I guess humans have already long since been assimilated, then somewhat educated and put to work without us (the human race) realizing we are all part of the Matrix in which aliens use us for pure entertainment --- they are watching us live on TV.

Aliens do have to make adjustments to the program, so I guess that explains why humans have reported UFO sightings and abductions.  In future episodes, aliens plan to create even-more intense scenarios just to add a little more drama to an explosive series called; Planet Earth!

So anyway, this sure puts new meaning to the term; 'we are all stars'.

I don't think Yul has much of a future...
(Unless he gets repaired I guess.)

don`t sweat it-i don`t get half of the stuff here anyway-too many injokes and agendas.
at least your thread created a debate-a pity it was hijacked by BigBen as the "future" is the elephant in the room and not normally a part of everyday discussion and let`s face it-it`s not a very happy or fulfilling discussion to be having.
all the more reason to live life to the fullest.
cheers

hey sharke,
where do i get these ideas-from the movies-of course!
i did say it was hopefully science fiction and it was a bit tongue in cheek but seriously-people like Paul R Erlich stand by the thesis that the human population is too large and is a direct threat to human survival and the planet.
even the old guard,Lord Rees,Royal Astronomer said"this is the first century in history when the biggest threat to humanity is from humanity itself."
as for
" I'm tired of all the pessimism and the Chicken-Lickenism."
i call it pragramatic realism but admire your optimism regarding technology as the saviour of mankind, considering most will argue that industrialisation, technology and consumerism are the culprits who enabled us to properly plunder and foul this utopia.
but that`s the good thing about opinions-they are all valid.
cheers

And the reason why I'm optimistic about the future is because I know that there was never such a thing as "Utopia" on earth. It was always a harsh, cruel place in which the vast majority of living creatures lived desperate lives of fear and subsistence. From day one it's been "dog eat dog" and while that is still very much evident in the human race, it's decidedly less so. Things never get better overnight, but science and technology have made our lives immeasurably greater and continue to do so at a slow and steady pace. Anyone who thinks they would quite like to go back to pre-industrial times has never really sat down and thought about how much harder (and crueler) life was back then.
