As to Logic Studio, more power to 'em. Apple didn't ditch the product, they dropped the price, and there's no dongle. Sonar is now officially supported running under Boot Camp. It's all good.

Absolutely.
It's a very exciting time, for me at least.

Despite my periodic negativity toward LP8, and my tendency to assert that it's really just another DAW (usually when I read how GREAT some think it is over other things), I DO like the application. Having LP8, Ableton Live, Project5, and Sonar on ONE machine just makes me giggle.
Who could have imagined such a situation 3-4 years ago? I couldn't.

Just to clarify, the midi timing I personally was speaking about was Logic's tendency to drift when midi clock syncing external sequencers. The rest of the timing seems as normal as I can notice. Sonar, on the other hand, runs along just fine in this scenario.

I need to spend more time with LP8 regarding this, to get a more accurate feel for whether it's still an issue for me, but to be honest, I use Sonar for controlling my external gear now. I pretty much never use external sound sources with Logic Pro anymore.

In any event, I'm quite happy with my setup.
In fact, I've been working on a Logic Pro track all night... and apart from the occasional Core Audio Overload, and two crashes while using FM8 (which LP8 seems to dislike a tiny bit), it's been Cake.

Tomorrow night I'll be working a Sonar project.

It's really hard to imagine how anyone can view today's DAW situation as not good enough, but like I said, I didn't read this whole thread.

Take care,

Just a FYI,

Here's some news about the ever loving corporation that is apple.

Oh, and fwiw I agree with Jim, if you want to work with a DAW that is trouble free, then the best idea is to stick with XP. Ive not had any problems and quite enjoy working with my vista DAW, but not everyone else will.

Not surprising, unfortunately.
Cult of Mac, after all. They believe it as much as they hype it.

Strange policy, though. I've given lots of unsolicited suggestions to them, but they never got back to me.

Thanks for the link,

I don't think this guy is actually a troll.
My instincts say this OP Steve is a very sad case. I guess he's using this one and other forums too just to make himself feel important. I don't think he'll ever start using DAWs, I doubt if he's a musician at all, perhaps a wannabe who owns some gear, but doesn't know how to use them. On some other forum he may be a pro newspaper cameraman, even though he only owns a 50 dollar pocket camera.

Such an inexpensive way to build a dreamlife for yourself. Working at the market place
as a kid I learned to know one version of this type: They gathered goods worth 500 bucks
explaining how quality concious etc. they are. Then they say:"So, keep these for me, I just go to the bank near by to get some cash!" And, of course, never seen again.

I aint messing with you. Steve must be crying now!

Immazevo. do work work all night on a project until it is completed. you sound as if you have a routine. And one that works too.

Dappa,
actually my intention was not to be rude, but (at least to some extent) understanding or something like that. Perhaps a bit teacherlike

I (like obviously so many others) just couldn't believe my eyes, when I understood
the guy has been on the forum for years without never having used a DAW, and is leaving us in grief because other DAW applications are so much better.

And, as you surely noticed, I wrote this reply not being quite sure about your tone of voice

Steve probably threw down his $0.50 camera down in disgust and broke it! Now he has to buy a new camera. So tell me Kalle, how is he now going to afford a decent DAW.

all dreams broken and shattered in one instance all lying in an heap!
