As to Logic Studio, more power to 'em. Apple didn't ditch the product, they dropped the price, and there's no dongle. Sonar is now officially supported running under Boot Camp. It's all good.
Absolutely.
It's a very exciting time, for me at least.
Despite my periodic negativity toward LP8, and my tendency to assert that it's really just another DAW (usually when I read how GREAT some think it is over other things), I DO like the application. Having LP8, Ableton Live, Project5, and Sonar on ONE machine just makes me giggle.
Who could have imagined such a situation 3-4 years ago? I couldn't.
Just to clarify, the midi timing I personally was speaking about was Logic's tendency to drift when midi clock syncing external sequencers. The rest of the timing seems as normal as I can notice. Sonar, on the other hand, runs along just fine in this scenario.
I need to spend more time with LP8 regarding this, to get a more accurate feel for whether it's still an issue for me, but to be honest, I use Sonar for controlling my external gear now. I pretty much never use external sound sources with Logic Pro anymore.
In any event, I'm quite happy with my setup.
In fact, I've been working on a Logic Pro track all night... and apart from the occasional Core Audio Overload, and two crashes while using FM8 (which LP8 seems to dislike a tiny bit), it's been Cake.
Tomorrow night I'll be working a Sonar project.
It's really hard to imagine how anyone can view today's DAW situation as not good enough, but like I said, I didn't read this whole thread.
Take care,
