Malibu.. ok back on topic.. the instruments, well some you can get elsewhere in other forms, the one that comes straight to mind is the mellotron..

as for the bass and guitar, depends on their forms.. loops or single sounds, with the various strumming , gliss etc.. how many sample libraries have carried that off successfully?

might be handy for reference just get a real guitar or bass player in and use it for reference until the song is near complete. pretty much how I feel about strings, yep I'd like to use real players on what I do.. but you can get some good effects by layering sounds and trying to make them sounds more human.

Yeah! I like them very very much! Since I´ve heard them 1st time around 1974 (I was just 3 yr old). Being one of bigger Beatles collectors in my place (more then 700 CDs, near 500 Vinyls, lot of books, all Monthly books, original German Hofner bass, Epiphone Casino (sunburst), Gretsch Country, Gibson J160 (i´m looking for Rickenbacker 360 yet heheheh).........It would be very hard to think I would not going to buy this pearl......EW FAB FOUR. It arrived 3 days ago and I just can´t wait to test it.

Best regards.

I love the Beatles, this looks/sounds really cool. Can't afford it right now though.

I was just listening to Revolver for the past few days on the car stereo (driving to work and back), got hooked on it all over again

Hi:

I've had my eyes on "Fab Four" for a while now, and even more so since soundsonline discounted it half off.

Just wondered if there are any current users of the product using the Play 2 engine (this thread is aging), and whether they would still recommend it based on the strengths of the guitar samples?

I personally loved the sound of the demos, but have also seen the product reviewed negatively in other forums.  Some folks attacked the value/quality of the guitars and the stability of the Play engine.

Anyone out there currently using it on Sonar 64-bit and the Play engine, and have an up to date recommendation?  I'm inclined to get it since it is on sale, but am wary of other forum reviews using words like "unusable".

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Still gets slated on a regular basis for the bugginess but the sound demos are the sounds you get and they sound good. I've looked into this myself quite a few times and they had a sale during namm and now 50% off. It appears to be buggy with no appetite to update. Reminds me of another company????? If you've got a good PC and a good wind behind you then you'll probably be ok. It's not easy to find out the exact problems as people are quite general in their opinion. 'It's buggy' - yeah but how? why? where? when? The play engine probably seemed a great idea in someones head and then on paper. Then someone made it and turned out  it wasn't that great after all. I'll keep me ear to the ground for any play engine comments but there's more than a few cheesed off with the old play engine.

And a final point - how come plug-ins always work flawlessly on demos?

The Rutles were good. There was something about them... I think it was... the trousers.

I've penned quite a few Rutles songs myself.

Come on East West,  let's have a PreFab Four plug-in.

Anybody checked out "The Vinyl Kings"?...Superb musicians (studio & stage) performing original songs...Lotsa Beatles influence (intentionally) with a touch of the Beach Boys tossed in once in awhile...
