why oh why DID they pick red??

Tradition - almost every MIDI indicator on every piece of hardware ever sold is a red LED. Doesn't bother me a bit. But I would like to be able to disable MIDI track meters altogether, expecially if they haven't fixed it so that playing a piano part with a lot of sustain events makes it look like your velocities are peaking constantly.

I filed a problem report when MIDI meters were first introduced, asking that they only register note velocity, and nothing else.

But "tradition" doesn't "change everything"  (wink wink).

This is a new GUI, so out with tradition! ;)

Hehehehe, which means it Does bother you more than a bit - those red meters make it look like you're peaking out all time, just as you said.

I honestly never noticed this in previous Sonars, because it was just a light blue flickering.  I don't care about what's happening on a MIDI strip, I'm looking at the Audio track it's feeding, since that's where the signal counts.

Like Billy said, we just don't look at it - but why have this annoying red flashing all the time?  It's silly.

Have you tried lowering the velocity to see if it changes color? Just a thought.

lol! Drove me nuts at first. If there is not a way to change this, I think this should be added to the list of "to do's"

I don't fully understand why we even need such an indicator since we already have MIDI meters.

Agree with that too. May there is a way to make them go away and I've just not discovered that easter egg yet.

In the meanwhile, just DON'T LOOK! :)

LOL!!

I think the OP would look really cool wearing these sunglasses:

It stays the same, Crg, no matter how low the velocity is, because red flashing at the top of the strip is just a MIDI activity indicator, and it's constantly the same whenever data is happening on that MIDI channel.  Touch your volume pedal and it blinks, push a button on a controller, it blinks.

If I end up using X1 very much (doubtful at the moment), I'll just wear the cool specs from SongCraft to obscure the view - THAnks for those, SongCraft.

The activity indicators  show any MIDI activity such as a PG the meters show velocity which is a very poor choice but at least we can see if stuff is getting through.

NICE to see you here John.  I hope you are well!

Now your activity indicator is lit up again :)

LOL Yep it is. Good to be back. I had a meltdown with my internet provider. Now all is well.
