I would only use it to find out if I need driver updates. Then just go to the source and get them rather than use it's installer.

I read this post before, and today I decided to dl it and run it.
Well, my computer's graphic is so fast now.
Windows always told me before that I had nothing to upgrade.  But DB dl another driver and also for my DLink wireless adapter too, eventhough I just bought this thing like 1 month ago.
Thank you Alex.  I recomment this highly.

I put this in another thread, but it is applicable here: Go to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect and update from them automatically (I recommend using Internet Explorer to run it). That way you can check if a) A system scan recognizes WHAT you have and b) update any chipset drivers

Yeah - great for Intel chipsets, however Driver Booster will look at Intel software, and the Intel autoupdate won't work on Windows 8.1 last time I looked.

One thing I noticed today, you need to go to Windows task scheduler and get rid of the tasks once  installed...
Go to Task scheduler and delete anything to do with Driver boost. Updating the original thread now.

I can't go to Win8 without the serious probability of having to replace my interface. So no dice.

I uninstalled Driver booster. I also rolled back the driver it installed for the card reader.

I tried Driver Booster and was surprised to find an AD on my desktop the next time I booted the computer up. Took me a little while to realize it was Driver Booster but then quickly uninstalled it.

You didn't follow the instructions in the OP (or the updated instructions). That would have been the scheduled task or a setting such as: "Automatically launch at program startup" and "Minimize to system Tray when closed.

Well I did this before reading this thread. Even so when I install anything I'm very careful to make sure all crapware/spyware options are disabled. Just goes to show that doing that by itself isn't enough anymore (I did decline the second prompt, but missed the automatic startup and Task Scheduler steps).

But you give good advice in this case, so it would have been nice to have read this before I did it.
