I'd guess the reason why V-Vocal is no longer triggered by a shortcut (and perhaps can't be) is because it is now a third-party plugin as far as Sonar X3 is concerned.

It would make sense with all this RegionFX stuff going on in X3. I think it's probably more of a documentation "bug".

This is not a bug but intended behavior. VVocal is deprecated as of X3 and as such its shortcut is released back to the public domain :) Keyboard shortcuts are a valuable resource so it would be unwise to continue blocking them for deprecated features.
There is currently no way to bind a hotkey to region effects other than Melodyne. In the future if there are more ARA region effects available we may consider adding a configuration mechanism to bind a specific one to a key but thats unlikely to happen soon.
 
The hotkey for Melodyne is CTRL-M as discussed in the help and not Shift-M:

I already added feedback to the page requesting the reference be deleted. Of course, anyone can make recommendations to update/correct the documentation in the feedback section at the bottom of each page.

The section on VVocal shortcuts should be deleted - you can submit feedback about the online documentation dirctly about that page to report it. The Region FX shortcuts are correct

Keni, I believe that VV opens like Melodyne, via the Region FX tab, now.  Highlight your clip or region and open the Region FX tab where you will find VV and Melodyne available.  This has been reported here on several occasions.

Keni, I just found out they don't work here either.  There may have been more changes in this version than reported.  I used the shortcut to VV quite a bit, but since VV is no longer supported I'm just glad that it shows up.

I reported this when X3 was released. It was and is still in the online keyboard shortcuts list under V-Vocal Shortcuts...

Previously I also found that shift-m was supposed to be a shortcut for Melodyne, but I don't seem to be able to find where I saw that back then...

I wouldn't say that Cakewalk no longer supports VV... If you have it is is still supported, but it's no longer included with the purchase. It seems that it must have been the same type of interfacing as ARA, or similar enough that it's access with Sonar is as another plugin adhering to ARA format...

I will correct myself and try using Ctrl-m later today... I hope you do find the chance to add region fx to get added to the bendable commands... Maybe I don't know Melodyne well enough or that the light version is missing tools that I often use, but I still use VV a lot...

I'll spend some more time with Melodyne and see how I fare as I hate having to menu dive when I need a tool! ;-)

I believe it likely that since they dropped V-Vocal that they simply haven't updated the documentation properly.  Obviously it is still available to those who had prior Sonar versions, but the shortcut key was likely just removed and the other doc parts not updated.
 
I have gone through documentation from prior version changes, and have submitted numerous feature requests pointing out documentation errors in years past.  This seems a lot like that sort of thing.

Yes, we were all guessing that but as it was still in the docs, questioning it... Now that Noel gave us the facts, we now know it to be the truth as well as I was corrected that the shortcut for Melodyne is Ctrl-M...
