I thought that the image I provided said it all. That's Sonar X2 with Panu's Black Label mod. It's pretty much the same in the TV as well. I even had the clip be black even though the pane background was black. It made it easier, and less painful, for me to work quite a while. I set my waveform to yellow. I don't like that the TV's waveform colors are tied to the track.

My original statement is incorrect though. I should not have said it looked like a turd. I'm sure to most of you that what I want looks like a turd. So be it. I need something I can work on for longer than five minutes.

It looks like the deathstar to me (not a turd). Well I like the look of the deathstar as well, it would be pretty cool if Cake's UI could look like the deathstar on a mouse click. However it would be really difficult to write the steps in Cake's problem reporter to say "make it look like the deathstar". But as a point sure it's valid, I just can't see how it would go any further without specifics.

I'm with Guitarpima on this one. I find the overall attempt to replicate what a console used to be as uninspired and for my old eyes tiring...I would prefer a more contempory look with colour customization and the ability to create themes. I'm okay with how the track view and PRV look, feel and operate.

In further support of Guitarpima he is only criticizing the look, as he states (and I agree), workflow and functionality are first rate...my personnel favorite.

I don't see how it hurts anything the ideas he is bringing up. I find them constructive.

Of course, although his choice of immoderate adjectives tends to render his arguments rather hard to believe. Of course, disagreeing with him isn't a flame, just a critique of a critique....

I seem to be one of the few people that liked the X series colour scheme. When the colour options were introduced in X3 my first reactions was "I won't be messing with that" but I found I really like the way it has been implemented when working with busses.

That's exactly my experience.

Adjectives aside, this has been a complaint since X1 first came out. The complaints stopped because Panu was able to mod the GUI so people could have it the way they wanted. Now were back to square 1 again and the "new color options" they brought forth aren't working. Why does everything have to be gray? Are the bakers pretending to be characters in the book, "The Giver"? People want color options they like, not what someone wants them to like. There are no colors that stick out against the gray that makes things easier to see.

I want to see it the way I want to see it and not the way you think it should be. If you don't like it, suffer. As it is, I'm the one who has to suffer with this insufferable GUI.

Yes, which is why I suggested bumping up the brightness and contrast. It won't change the color, but it makes the areas you indicated more readable.

I'm a bit more sympathetic to having full color control as it once was.  I do like the look of X3 but thats me. I don't see why my like should be imposed on everyone else. I was more involved with adjusting color and the look of Sonar in the past but after many versions I got more comfortable with the stock look. Now I think one of Sonar's neat features was being able to customize the color scheme that sadly is no longer around. I also recall the pride CW had in pointing out how they were the only DAW that offered vision impaired users various color themes that would help them. I'm sorry they abandoned that part of the program.

To me personally its not the most important feature but I do believe it is for many and that alone is reason enough to put it back.

What would be nice for me would be a scalable CV. One that I could adjust in overall size and still see all its contents.

Anyway, I will be for any movement toward full color customization. Why because its the right thing to do.

I was going to write a long, lengthy response but the music was more important.
