I've almost picked one of those up a couple of times. Is it fully configurable? What limitations have you discovered if any?

yes, it's great :-) the only thing i did was swap out the firmware chip for the uno variant http://www.ossandust.be/

ah,it's an easy one: the eprom image is (was) available for free iirc, but if like me you're not comfortable burning your own chips, the guy will send you one for a tenner, easy to swap out

i'm not sure there's any real equivalent/alternative to this board?

Easy and cheap. I did the same recently. The hardest part is because it's built like a tank there's a squillion screws to undo to get the base off to spend 10 seconds replacing the eprom. Lol.

It does void your warranty.

I bought a used one and performed the mod. I might sell it, tho, I've not been using it. I thought I'd use it live, but I just don't really have the room and in the studio it I just don't use it.

I've had great luck with the 2 Quad Composer compressors I bought 10 years ago. Money well spent, and they do a great job too.
