ok - my head is really messed up by this now. I uninstalled ALL BOZ and then reinstalled them (running the installers as Admin). Alas, no change at all, BUT...
FreeFlyBert mentions mono, so on a hunch I did the following (FWIW - all the tracks that I have been using have been mono 44.1 and 24bit) -
1. While stopped (not playing), I clicked the interleave button
from mono to stereo.
2. Oddly, I noticed the ProChannel overloading, traced it to the eq, turned that off, it settled down, and turned it back on again at which point it was no longer red/overloading. This part may have no bearing at all - I don't know.
3. Now in stereo, I inserted Bark of Dog, and lo and behold - it is working perfectly! Whether playing back audio or not - No crash!
4. I inserted the BOZ EQ and the Comp ProChannel modules as well and they were stable and worked as well!!
5. Here's the WEIRD and FUNKY part. For no good reason (while the audio playback was stopped), I decided to toggled the interleave button
back to mono. It continued to work fine! I sure don't know what the heck that means, but it has been repeatable 3 times now!
6. I have also saved in stereo with Bark of Dog inserted, closed SONAR, and reopened and all works well from that startup. I also then retoggled back to mono (which continued to work as it did before) and then saved, closed SONAR, and reopened and it worked then as well.
SONAR only seems to crash out when first inserting the BOZ plugins as ProChannel modules into a mono track! I don't understand why, but it is completely repeatable on my system.
I remember when the Console Emulator was getting all buggy and causing a resonant (screaming loud) pitch when used in mono back in the X3c update. Maybe there is a similar coding or (??) problem???
*on a footnote, the one project that was crashing on save (post update) is still having a problem. I am thinking that somewhere in this process it has become corrupted or (???). 2 other projects (this same one from a previous saved version and a different song) are fine, so I'm just gonna roll with it for a bit. Sorry about gettin' all bent.
