Terra,

Don't have these units, but have used Kontakt 5 with their libraries without problem. Any synth should work as well. Have found that some are set to accept pitch bend and others not.

Ole said that the same license file for MidiGuitar will work to authorize MidiBass, so I assume that the offer is open ended. I bought the program as soon as it was out and can evidently unlock MidiBass as well.

In my ignorance, said that those demoing the release version couldn't audition the midi improvements in the beta.  Wrong...

Vst version is for those with a license, but the standalone version of the beta is available to demo.

Looking at the GAS syndrome, this software does not qualify. It's not another reverb or eq, but something completely different and vital to the arsenal now that it really works. This line of reasoning may even go over with the wives. I successfully convinced my better half and didn't even have to sleep on the porch again for buying redundant plugins. One should in theory be able to fire up the plastic card and go into debt with little or no guilt.

What I mean is a lot of these libraries use things like key switches or multiple patches for different articulations. I'm wondering how this would work with those to promote a more "freeplay" style of playing that works with plugins without having to spend a lot of time editing. If I have to record a track then spend 3 hours editing the midi to fit each individual articulation on the instrument, it's not worth it.

TerraSin,
I have just spent some time with Midi Guitar (not bass) and Trillian. I works well. With some of the velocity sensitive patches you can adjust the velocity gain to match your playing style and the sound you want. I have never used any of the Orange Tree stuff but imagine it will also work well. As with any synth in Midi Guitar time spent developing a clean playing style pays off. Hope this helps.    Dan

Best advice from King.

Clean playing style...

Midi Guitar revolutionary, but can't just plug in your axe and flail without coming to grips with what we are required to do to make it work.

Requires progressing beyond a lot of the indiscretions we are used to getting by with.
Not like another flanger plug. Requires relearning playing style if and when going thru the device.

Tough, but think it makes us better musicians for the minor struggle.

Oh my Goodness ,

I just found out for myself that The Jam Origin Midi Bass plug ( licensed Beta ) is absolutely something I have needed for a real long time and didn't even know it
I've  been experimenting with it for a couple of hours in SONAR .
SO far  I think it is a really cool plug ..
I only own one Bass , a 4 string and this Midi Bass plug just opened up the door and made me feel like I just grabbed a few hundred new bass's for my Bass sounds ....
Meaning  all the VST instruments I never got to use for bass  I can now use because I like to play a real bass
(keys just ain't my thing ...)

I find it interesting that I can take my bass , play a bass part and blend that in with the midi bass part at the same time ...
a lot of real cool possibility's have just opened up for me ...

I effing Love this thing The Midi Bass plug tracks very good and It is Kicking Out Some Serious Bottom End

anyway thanks for listening ,

Have you been able to update MIDI Bass to Beta 2 ? When I fire up MID Bass the window pops up telling there is an update, but the links say and take you to MIDI Guitar 2.0.4 Beta, which is exactly the same as the file of the same name that I downloaded back in July (according to the date in Windows) and contains the same files, 32 and 64bit Midi Guitar standalone and WhatsNew and EULA text files, no .dll's, scratching my head as how to get the latest Beta 2 for MIDI Bass.

Never mind, it is all sorted, it appears I neglected to install Beta 1.0.1 of MIDI bass, and thus replacing Beta 0.1.0 which would have solved the issue. In the meantime I sent a quick message to Ole and received a reply not 5 minutes later, that's when I realized that I had missed installing 1.0.1.

Oh, and new updates tonight (probably)

Hi Jeff,

Oh, sorry for the confusion. There is a bug in that old MB version.

I just tried the process, and worked:
1. Get MB BETA1 here (scroll down a bit): http://www.jamorigin.com/download/
2. You get the notification at startup, and a link to your email.

Btw. new updates with fixes coming tonight, probably.

Best
Ole

No surprise that you had a reply in 5 min. Jam Origin support is excellent. Ole is always quick to respond. I had a problem early on with the stand alone 64 bit not working and Ole was right on top of it.   Dan

Bit more latency it seems in Midi Bass than Midi Guitar. Still about like a slap back echo and if necessary, a track can be dragged a few millisec to synchronize. Clean playing style, and Midi Bass tracks accurately. More of a challenge for me, but maybe because I'm not a bass player.

License for Midi Guitar does indeed activate Midi Bass.

don't have the slightest clue why I edited this... Must have been something earth shattering...
