Hi Noel, I've uploaded the DMP files. Thanks for listing the path (I wasn't sure where this data was located).

Thanks for sending the dump files. There are two different kinds of crashes in your dumps.
One is a crash via the mackie control when its trying to send MIDI output to SONAR. Can you check if removing your mackie control from SONAR stops the crashing?
The second crash is on exit. We will investigate both of them.

Is your system connected to the internet? And could you try turning off analytics in the preferences to see if that changes your behavior?

I'll give both a try now. Give me about an hour and I'll reply with how it goes.

I disconnected the Behringer X-touch (Mackie control) and turned off Analytics. So far all my projects are opening with no trouble. I'm still getting the occasional crash on close when entering "safe mode", but I see that a future update will solve this.

Is the X-touch unit itself causing the crash?

The crash on exit with Safe mode has been fixed for the 07 release.
We need to see why the X-touch is causing the crash. Could you perhaps attach a simplified project that causes the crash? No audio should be necessary. Please provide some steps for how you are configuring the control surface in SONAR as well in case there is something specific there which triggers the crash.

Hi Noel, I'll modify one of my projects (taking out the audio) and save it as a Test. Should I leave the plugins in there or delete them?

Leave them in. Please test that you can repro the problem with your test project.

Hi, I've uploaded the Test Project, Test Project Assets and the Windows AppHang Report that was generated. There wasn't a MiniDumps file generated.

The Test project was made from an existing project but I deleted the audio and MIDI tracks. Everything else in the Test project is the same as the original. The Test and original projects both had AppHangs.
The X-Touch is plugged into one of the USB2 ports on my Plugable UD-3900 USB docking station. The docking station is plugged into one of the USB3 ports on my MacBook Pro. I am also using the display function of the USB hub. In an earlier test I performed, I disconnected the LED display and associated wiring from the USB hub - there was no change in outcome and Sonar continued to hang as previously stated.

The X-Touch is configured as "Mackie Control - 1" in Control Surfaces and the In and Out Ports are called "X-Touch". In MIDI Devices, "MIDIIN2 (X-Touch)" and "MIDIOUT2 (X-Touch)" are 'not' checked/selected.

When loading a project under normal circumstances, I'll see the mouse courser spin as everything loads up (which takes 10 to 30 seconds depending on the size of the project). The last thing that happens is the faders on the X-touch move into place and the little display windows fill in with track information along with the Now Time. When playing a project the faders and Now Time have excellent synchronization with Sonar.

When loading a project that hangs, I'll see the mouse courser spin as everything loads (same as normal). However, the faders on the X-touch never move into place and none of the display windows list any of the project details. You can wait ten minutes or more and the project never completes loading.

Let me know if more info is needed.

hi Reg,

have you tried plugging the X touch direct in to the usb 2 port ?
midi control surfaces should never be run through usb hubs. theres just too many messages being sent to use a hub.
also, mixing usb 2 and usb 3 ports is not the greatest idea. I understand sometimes we are limited by our environments. but a small test will tell.

anyway, I hope this gets sorted for you soon. The X touch looks fascinating. I look forward to checking one out myself in the future (right now im happy with my Mackie Control  )
good luck.

Regards,
Chuck
