Thanks Bob

If that is the way to get it working then thanks.
I didn't see that defined so clearly in the documentation.

To be clear,
So, in 2017.04 when AutoLock is off, clicking on a note now moves to that track in track view on the right, and highlights that track?

Apologies if it's not clear.  The bottom line is:

You can still get old behaviors, but there are some new defaults that you may need to tweak.  The Auto-Lock button at the top of the Track List Picker View defaults to ON, so you'll see any data that you highlight in the picker list - but you'll only be able to edit the current/active track.  If you turn the Auto-lock button OFF, you'll be able to switch tracks by selecting notes on the piano roll grid.  It is also handy for selecting notes and events across mutliple tracks and editing them all together - just like it used to work.

FWIW - and this is just me - I find I'm always making mistakes (adding notes on tracks where they don't belong, etc) when I have the Auto-Lock OFF, so I usually leave it ON.  This is because we no longer have to go to the Track-Pick dialog to change the tracks set -  the list of working tracks is always right there on the right, so I can quickly switch the current edited track for editing.  Hope this helps.  Cheers!

Yes. That's a bit more clear.
It sounds like we may have reclaimed the ability to "clone" (with Auto-Lock off) notes like in Sonar 4,
i.e. drag copying from one track to an other.
Like, for instance, duplicating a viola track to a second violin track creating a harmony or an octave higher.

I am gradually coming to appreciate the PRV redesign, even though it took awhile to warm to it. I've no doubt that with user feedback they'll continue to smooth the wrinkles until everybody's happy. (Big thanks for the "show audio" option! That's been a nuisance since forever.)

Like Bob, I appreciate the auto-lock's prevention of accidentally editing the wrong track, something I do often. However, I usually turn the feature off, for two reasons. First, it's difficult to tell which locked track is which, because they're all the same color. Defeats the purpose of showing multiple tracks. Second, it's no longer possible to switch to another track by clicking on it. So I'll take my chances with auto-lock disabled for now, unless I know I'm only going to be editing one track.

I asked this in the Software forum, but no replies over the last week.  I still can't get these selected tracks to remains saved after I reopen the project. The PRV goes back to unselected tracks. To clarify (I hope), what I want is behaviour just like PRV was up to version 2017.03. So:

I want a combination of tracks, say tracks 1 and 3, to be visible in one tab, and I want to save that view permanently, so when I open the project again, I still see tracks 1 and 3 in that tab.
Then I want another tab with, say tracks 2 and 4. Again I want this to be permanent, at least until I want to re-order things later on... and so on.

I've got as far as selecting tracks 1 and 3, only showing those in the tab, and filtering so only tracks 1 and 3 are in the track view list. When I right-click on the "Filter" button, I'd expect to save from the drop down menu - is that correct?  However, "Save" is greyed out and I can't save.

Ultimately, I'd like a range of tabs across the top, each with one or more tracks in them, and for these to remain saved, as they did before the PRV update.

Ideally - I would like the ability to name these tabs in PRV, rather than the bland "Piano Roll - Multiple Tracks" label. E.g. the tab with tracks 1 and 3 would be "Drums", the tab with tracks 2 and 4 would be "saxes" .. etc. I realise this is not a current feature, but it would be really good.  As it stands at 2017.04, PRV workflow has been reduced to the dark ages, unless I'm missing something obvious, which I hope is the more likely case.

Sorry I can't help other than to suggest you might possibly have a lens being active of a locked screenset causing it to revert to something you don't want.

Key phrase here once again might seem to be "Persistance of View." ( thank you CA )

Thanks Steve,  it seems a messy route to take.
To me the whole workflow of PRV is now much more cumbersome.

I've found a much larger deal breaker.
Loosing the absolute independence between TV and PRV would set my work flow back to the stone age.
I see no new feature that outweighs this long standing previous to 2017.03 given essential.
