I think the first thing you have to do is update the drivers from M-Audio. And which one did you get? Some M-audiophiles are reading this now and will give you more pointed advice.

yes, go to m-audio's website and download and install the latest drivers. then go to OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED and change the driver mode to ASIO then close and restart MC report back if it hasn't fixed the problem.

It's the Mobilepre usb. Drivers that came with the package are MobilePre_5.10.00.5128.exe downloaded the update MP_WDM_5.10.00.3516.exe. Is it normal that when installing the new drivers the old have to be uninstalled. I ask because thats the only choice the update gave me. Things diden't work to hot for the first go around so I uninstalled all mob software and drivers and tried to reinstall them. Thing is, and not sure if this happened last time but a error comes up "the file"MA763004.sys" on M-Audio MobilePre Driver disk is needed. I can't find this file any where, CD or hd looked for MA763004.sys MA763004.sy_ and MA763004.*. Whats happening? Here I thought this would be a easy plug and play thing literally.

I think you may have chosen the wrong driver to download and try to install. I just checked m-audio's website and for the MOBILE PRE on Windows XP SP2, the version you're supposed to have is 5.10.00.5128, not .3516. I'm not sure what happened, but you must have downloaded the wrong drivers somehow. go back to the 5128 drivers, then change to ASIO driver mode like I explained above.

Just to ask, did you disable the on-board soundcard?

Now music creator will not play any recordings and recording is beeing recorded but I hear nothing. In MC, 'Options>Audio>General', make sure the M-Audio is selected for both playback and record timing masters. If the onboard sound card is also selected, de-select it. It's a good idea to disable the onboard sound card.

I pulled the sound card it caused me nothing but headaches and uninstalled its software. MC4 has M-Audio USB ASIO Interface analog 1/2 mobilepre as playback. M-Audio USB ASIO Interface line in 1 Mobilepre as the record.

Downloaded xp sp3 drivers on more time, could of been corrupted. Uninstalled mobilepre drivers reinstalled mobilepre drivers. Game works fine but still no sound in MC4 and a error occurs now after hitting OK at OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED "The ASIO sample rate is nt supported by one of the usb interfaces." All most there Thanks for all your help thus far.

Got track sound to work, MC4 tracks only thus far. Got in my head to play something that came with MC4 and sure enough if played. Forgot to mention that I have been having strange software going on's. Formated the hard drive before that I did back up the Cakewalk Projects directory right onto my D: drive. Question: The track I made is there in MC4 it hasn't changed but the sounds, where did they go? My docs? Some folder in the programs directory? So now all I need help with is why can't I get this guitar sound to play or recored with sound through MC4. Can get guitar to play in windows if I unchecked â€mute†under the “Monitor mix†in Mobilepre usb control panel. Just tried to record and the sound level moves but no sound can be heard but there is a wav so it is recording? When played there is no sound and the sound level is not moving. Yes I am a noob and appreciative your patients and your help. Just noticed in "Sound and Audio Devices Properties" everything under "Volume" is greyed out, can't click anything, is this normal?

Just noticed in "Sound and Audio Devices Properties" everything under "Volume" is greyed out, can't click anything, is this normal? Actually, that's not necessarily bad. In my S&ADP, Volume tab, my volume is also grayed-out, but under Audio and Voice, the playback volumes are not. Make sure that your sound device is selected there if it is not.

look here: OPTIONS>AUDIO>GENERAL tell us what is listed as the RECORDING and PLAYBACK TIMING MASTERS then look here: OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED what is the driver mode and what is the reported latency (xxmsecs) then look here: OPTIONS>AUDIO>DRIVERS and tell us which drivers are available and which ones are checked. then look here at the bottom right hand corner of the screen and you'll see your bit rate and sampling rate listed for the project. it'll be 16 bit or 24bit and XXXXX Hz.

bit rate = 512 That one's not correct, it should be either 16 or 24, you might be looking at the wrong thing. ok - the m-audio mobilepre has native ASIO drivers, you should not be using ASIO4ALL for a soundcard with native ASIO drivers. ASIO4ALL is a WDM wrapper, and it's great for use with soundcards which don't have native ASIO drivers, but yours does, so you need to not use it. either uninstall ASIO4ALL or at least go to: OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED and change to the NON-ASIO4ALL - the ASIO M-Audio drivers.

In = M-Audio USB ASIO Line In 1 MobilePre Out = M-Audio USB ASIO Analog 1/2 MobilePre Another Error "The ASIO sample rate is not supported by one of the USB interfaces! Please check you sync setting in your control panel. Then another windows pops up. "The following driver(s) either do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application. Please choose whether you want to disable them or use them anyway." The only driver in the list is " M-Audio USB ASIO Analog 1/2 MobilePre" Has anyone had so much trouble?

I'm not sure why that's happening. it sounds like you've got it set up correctly, so I'm not sure why it's giving you those errors. let's try deleting the AUD.ini file. close MC. use windows explorer to go to: C:/Documents and Settings/[YOUR USER NAME]/Application Data/Cakewalk/Music Creator find the AUD.INI or the "AUD" file and delete it. make sure your mobilepre is connected! restart MC it will ask if you want to run the wave profiler - say YES then go to OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED and change back to ASIO driver mode then close and restart MC it won't ask you to run the wave profiler this time. see what happens now.

David, try the system on WDM drivers for a bit and see what happens, for some reason it is rejecting the the ASIO driver. WDM can be just as fast as ASIO in some situations, especially where you are not feeding the system mulitple tracks in at once. With WDM it will require you to make some adjustments to the latency buffering slider, try 256 to start with and lower or raise as per need. Also with WDM you will need to assign the synth for midi thru the synth rack, i would put a few more of the tool up on the tool bar. that will make finding the needed things easier. I do not know why it will not use ASIO, since i can not pull up the M-Audio mixer appet. There still may need to be some M-Audio software installed to make that work. On my system i have a M icon in the system try and that opens up the applet window to make adjustments to the M-Audio card. I could not find yours. So that is why i feel something has not been installed. When you installed or plugged the USB card in did it find it automatically? and if so are you plugging in the interface before MC isa opened?
