I have two rooms. This is the main control room. It is linked via a multicore to a larger recording space containing drums, percussion and piano. Two views of the main control room here. The main table and the synths and rack to the left. I am into computers. Have four in here all connected up via audio (analog and digital) midi and two of the main machines are also networked. The iPad is in a special Alesis dock allowing the rest of the studio to talk to it. The rack has three powerful rack synths in it (Kurzweil K2000R fully optioned, EMU E5000 ultra with everything plus JV2080 with many epxnaions in) plus the 3 other keyboards. (Roland JD800, Kawai K5000W additive and the Kurzweil PC3K6) The Kurzweil PC3K being the main controller. Analog mixer sits on top of rack and mixes all synths plus two computers being virtual instruments most of the time and the iPad. Totalling 9 external synths. The digital mixer brings everything else together. The analog mixer plus all the ins and out from everything else. I have got a pair of Yamaha HS7's not visible here.

Thanks for sharing your pics! It adds to this online relating "world". This chapter in my studio life is "small" but tidy and workable.... a long way from the rooms I built in 2001. I tried to paste the URLs from my photobucket but that didn't work. Anyone know how I can share those pics here? I can share this, but you have to wade through older studio set ups and guitars. Thanks I've had to sell a few this year ( AlleyKat, Swingster, Washburn acoustic baritone) and the Virus Ti2, plus a couple mics (AKG C480b CK61 and Kel Song Sparrow), but I do use my other ones way more. I really liked the series/parallel set up on the Swingster and want to re-pickup the Epi LP for that, once I figure out which pickups I'd like that are 4 conductor with chrome covers. That LP is very lively and I've upped the tuners and bone nut, so far. The parts-o-casters are very "me", though I'd like to Blade Runner the cherry died one. I can't seem to not tweak stuff. LOL Is there a "Modders Anonymous"? The Presonus MP20 has Burr Browns and the WA TB12 has a John Hardy 2520, so it's just not guitars, apparently. Michael

HA Good one Bob! Elixers help and I buy them cheap (mostly). I do have my own box of singles and one with sets for everything, which come in handy when I either don't want to drive to Traverse City MI or the weather "convinces" me not to go. I suppose that comes from years of gigging with all the spare stuff I'd need to finish a gig and then years of clients who didn't bring __________ whatever to their session.

Good eye there Ed. I just put it up there like that so you would notice :) It is normally on the desk to the left as I still use it to figure out tempos and approximate drum beats for song writing and whutnot. Still has my original 4 songs I programmed in ,,? ya must have been 85. You could store 4 full songs per set and then used a cassette tape to dump 4 more on your break. I soon got the Atari which drove it for at least another 3 years before I got the MT 32. I still think of drum patterns in terms of how they are stored --D1 is standard rock and D14 is a waltz etc. That little box taught me everything I still know about sequencing! I even learned about Triplets.

I had a 505 after my first DR-55 ('78?), that lasted till a pair of HR16's and the Seq (MM16?). Ted Nugent's drummer Cliff Davies was impressed with my drum tracks, when we had an acoustic duo in '96(?). I duplicated the snare and toms on the 2nd machine, delaying and detuning them for a fatter tone. I thought it was very cool. I continued that habit with a pair of SR16's. I just sold my last one, but they are really handy for practicing, finding tempos and goofing around. If an SR18 deal floats by.... LOL Michael

Thank you. I've been a pro since '63. I feel like I've "calmed down a bit" since 2001-2006 when I was gigging 5-7 nights/week plus a Sunday brunch gig, 35 students and sessions when I could sneak 'em in. I had 34 guitars then. Life, Chapter 7 and retirement have altered my sense of what I want "hanging around" to play. Money could certainly impact that! LOL Michael

If I could live my life over the only thing I'd change would be to not have sold any of my guitars!! ( or Basses and amps) I'm sure my wife would not agree with this! Here's looking backwards at my "live performance" workstation. You can see some of my collection in the background. I should really update that for insurance reasons, Remember what happened to Bit (Dave)
