The mix is very good. Instruments are skillfully played. Vocals sit just lovely and right in the mix. Good job. A combination of rap, rock and pop vocals, clever & creative.

Hi, Warren,

I really love this song, all of the performances are fantastic, and the production is top notch!  I've always really been a fan of Dena and Will's "Vested" stuff, and I think this is excellent.

Great work by everyone involved!

Very interesting tune. The bass and guitars groove well together. The vox and rap work well together too. Cool tune!

Great song. I normally don't like the mix of rock and rap but neither overpowered the other on this and I liked it.

OK, I was thrilled by the response on Flutter.  Thanks all.  This song is just a tad different.  I was involved coordinating musicians and playing bass.  The "rapper on this is R.Son (Richard Ceo) a very talented guy.  We would appreciate your feedback as always.  This has been sent to be mastered also.  You'll recognize some of the usual suspects on here.  Thanks in advance for any feedback! OH, it is another Porras/Stratton tune.

Dena Porras (Venus)- Vocals
Will Stratton-Guitars(except lead)and Beats
R.Son (Richard Ceo)-Rap verses
Mark Cline (CLEAN)- Lead Guitar
Darren Matthes (Dmax)- Drums
Warren Willingham (evadianepug)- Bass

Liked it a lot.Loved the vocals and her tone.Felt like the chorus could need an extra umpf in places, but maybe thats cos I'm listening on headphones.Liked the rapper. He reminded me of Tricky, one of my favorite Trip Hop Artists. Thanks for sharing !

Darren- I know what you mean about the drums.  A real mix of yours and beats.  I liked your "just acoustic" drums but, alas, not my call.

Karalie-Thanks for listening and commenting.  You know, mixing the genres is not for everyone.  I enjoyed it and believe that it's not a common thing right now, so, we'll do it!  Thanks again.

BobO- Thanks, man.  It sure was fun!!

Rhyno- Thanks a lot for listening!

Tap- Appreciate it, buddy!  Yeah, Dena sounds great, huh?  Thanks.

Bub- I agreew.  This was written (Will and Dena) in such a way that neither one precluded the other.  Good call,.

KevOnes- I like this rapper (R.Son) too.  He is somewhere between really light "rap", and really heavy "rap".  I'm going to listen to Tricky.  Thanks!   Just watched "Revolution Evolution Love".  I really liked that.  I wasn't sure what Trip Hop actually was.  Bliss is somewhere in that area, isn't it?  Thank you!!

This worked really well for me, as I personally really like to see the mixing of genres, or pieces going cross genre, and this tune kinda' did a little of both.  I flat out loved it.  Great feel, well played, sung and mixed.  Excellent job, gang.

I'm not much of a hip hop fan but doggone if I didn't absoflippinlutely love this.  This really was kind of a fusion of rap, rock, etc.  Very cool Warren.  Everyone's performance was nothing but excellent and the mix sure sounds done to me.

Well, as an erstwhile and occasionally current fan of Rap, I totally got it and dug it.
Lead was plenty rough. Is that a strat?
I also dug the groove, which was slinky and dirty.

My mix thoughts:

Dena's voice is too centered, y'all need to get some more width of her on the sides. I went to the cans for the second listen and it was even more obvious there.

The rap voice is too HPF'd. Rap needs balls to work, and this is too thin.

The bass is kinda underneath everything but not really. I woulda liked to hear it running under the guitars some more.

I lose the kick from time to time in the choruses, and I shouldn't. It should have more presence to make it sound current, as it stands right now it sounds kinda 1997.

The lead could use some more crunch, as it appears to be HPF'd around 400hz.

Nice job, all.

Very cool...

I agree with Joshua re. the introduction of Dena's vocal... I don't think it's necessarily out of key, but that single overlap with the rap vocal doesn't work so hot IMO.  But this is the ONLY thing that bugged me...

Other than that, it's a VERY cool piece.  Great sound and great performances.  I really love it.

Peace,

Ian
