This tune only has 2 acoustic guitars, a dobro and a bass sample so I'm sorta ashamed at how much trouble I've had with the mix. If you're so inclined, have a listen and I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/geeare1/shortbus

Good Lord . . . I think it's safe to say you have this music thing down. The song, the mix, the playing, it just don't get any better than this. I wanna be you when I grow up.

Well, that was absolute bliss I actually got goosebumps, like when I listen to Jerry Douglas playing.

Nice tune and great acoustic playing!
The bass is a bit too lumpy here in the dirty bass range. Smoother would be better. I know ... acoustic bass samples are tough to mix into place and still be warm.

Hi Gary, Lovely playing and you have captured the essence of the Dobro really well I'm listening on a pair of Tannoy Actives, not particularly great nearfields, and I know I shouldn't even be using nearfields for general listening tasks. But they are all I have in my little studio. But the mix sounds okay to my old and decrepit ears. cheers andy

Hi Steve, Thanks for the listen and kind words I agree with your bass comments. I really struggle to get synth/sample bass parts to sit in a mix in general but it does seem to be more difficult with the acoustic bass parts. But, at some point, I just have to go with what I've got! Thanks again.

Rikkie Hi Gary, great stuff, that's the way to do it. Great tune, immaculate playing, thoroughly enjoyable. Reminds me of one of my favorite guitarists, Chris Proctor. If you don't mind, what guitars did you use ? Rik
Hi Rik, Thanks! Glad you liked the tune and I really appreciate the Chris Proctor reference. The guitar I used was a Collings 0002H. It's a real nice guitar. Not perfect but, real nice

Hi Gary , WOW I'm sure glad I gave this tune of yours a listen . Your song features some real excellent playing on the acoustic guitar and dobro Absolutely Loved the sounds of your recording , but now I'm all messed up in the head ... I sold my dobro a few years back ( 7 ) and I sorely miss not having a dobro ... Hhhmm , by B Day is next week . I might go out and pick up "a placeholder dobro " and put a card saying it's from Duke .....Duke wont mind great playing , all the best , Kenny
